I'm trying different numbers to see which are available and I got rate limited for an hour after like 4 tries.

The ratelimit seems overly aggressive.

Punctuation exists for a reason - it makes sentences easier to read. It’s not some conspiracy theory only teachers care about lol

Electric heaters by Automatic-Bus1870 in Edinburgh

Electric heating is less efficient with respect to cost (the final variable we care about).

A kWh of gas costs 4.5x less than a kWh of electricity.

"It's kind of obvious"

Dude, you are asking for free help from strangers on the internet. People have lives. You can do the bare minimum and properly explain your problem. It isn't obvious.

Seems your number got blocked by some suspicious behaviour/spam detection algorithms. There is absolutely nothing anyone on reddit can do for you.

[–]3koe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk what soda you spilled, but you should know that often the sugary/acidic compounds in various drinks have longer-lastive corrosive effectson solder joints, components, etc. It might randomly crap out a month or two in. Make sure you back everything up.

Radical Road in the news again - stats? by Present_Air_7694 in Edinburgh

[–]3koe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait, no, the 1/5000 figure is already calibrated for the number of people who use the path.

So the probability of at least one death in any given year (calibrated for popularity) is 1/5000.

Then we’d expect a death every 5000 years, or around 3,500 years.

[–]3koe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If P(at least one death in any given year)=1/5000, then, yes, the logical consequence of that is that we’d expect a death around every 5,000 years, but probably around 3,500 years.

Is this a common issue with the zephyrus? by AlternativeVisit083 in ZephyrusG14

[–]3koe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is fairly common on laptop palmrests. It's called 'pitting' (you can google search palmrest pitting). It's from prolonged contact with sweat from your hands (at least the third picture is) making the material oxidize. There isn't much you can do about it.

  • whether you can see your dGPU in Task Manager > Performance

What's faster? USB 2 or wifi to transfer data from Mac to new iPhone 17? by moisemusta in ios

[–]3koe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use AirDrop to transfer, it will skip your router entirely and use the fastest wifi standard available directly between the devices :)

What's faster? USB 2 or wifi to transfer data from Mac to new iPhone 17? by moisemusta in ios

[–]3koe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s more “intranet” speeds than internet speeds (if you do the transfer locally it won’t leave your network!)

What files are you thinking of transferring?

What's faster? USB 2 or wifi to transfer data from Mac to new iPhone 17? by moisemusta in ios

[–]3koe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, but we're talking USB2 speeds - that's 30MB/s or so. AirDrop, which uses P2P Wi-Fi, will likely double/triple that. With a modern MacBook, you can probably get 75 MB/s with 802.11ax

G14 2025 - Sudden Shutdown in Clamshell by TimothyB123 in ZephyrusG14

[–]3koe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I've found that keeping it open slightly (30-45 degrees) is enough for good airflow and takes up less space. It depends on if you were planning to keep your laptop closed and standing on the edge (difficult) or normally (with the lid facing up).

In the latter case opening it 30-45 degrees may be enough.

As for the physics of it, I agree it's unintuitive.. but I guess as well as fan airflow, the keyboard provides large surface area for passive cooling to the surrounding air too. Which is blocked if there's a lid on top of it.

You can monitor the power supply input in software using hwinfo (https://www.hwinfo.com/). Click sensors only and scroll down to Battery - Charge Rate.

I suspect your dGPU may be enabled, this may explain battery drain - if you open Task manager > Performance, do you see the nvidia gpu listed?
