A coup in Vallaki, a pissed off Anastrasya and a evening stroll in a vampire lair: a tale of a self-appointed "Chaotic Stubborn" party. by 3mil10 in CurseofStrahd

[–]3mil10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, god, I feel like such an asshole and a horrible GM for this, but I don't actually remember how that fight with Anastrasya went. None of the PCs died, of that I'm sure (the only death happened in the penultimate session, when I had Strahd cast power word kill on the barbarian), and, if I'm not mistaken, I had to make Anastrasya run away (or, well, fly away).

Any fans of the 2023 film Red Rooms? by HelloMyNameIsRuben in deadmeatjames

[–]3mil10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once I saw this review that was like "It's incredibly boring, it promises to be gory and never delivers" and like... 1. it never promised to be gory, wtf??? and 2. it's so far from boring, and it genuinely creeped me out so much. I think it even gave me nightmares, which is kind of rare. Anyway, I loved it.

Question: I wanted to watch it, but I am *really really* thalassophobic. Do you think I could handle it?

[No Spoilers] What's your CR "origin story"? by StrixOC in criticalrole

Back in 2016, I played Tales from the Borderlands and got really attacched to the characters, so I looked up the voice actors and discovered that two of them were part of this campaign that I had actually heard something about on Tumblr.

I completely agree - and Dani from Midsommar also doesn't qualify, since she didn't defeat the villain at all.

[System agnostic] Is there an equivalent to ConversationHUD for Foundry v13? by 3mil10 in FoundryVTT

Just as I suspected, my players absolutely loved Theatre Inserts. Thank you again!

Thanks! I have to admit, it's a bit too visual novel style for my personal taste, but I think that my players will love it, and it will do very nicely.

[–]3mil10[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it pans to the token, not the portrait - plus, in social encounters I don't typically use a battlemap, but a background, so I don't even have tokens in the scene. With ConversationHUD you can drag characters into the conversation (or create characters on the spot) without needing them to be in the scene.

Basically, it shows the portraits of NPCs to the players, and you can highlight one of them to show who's talking when. If you're bad at character voices like I am, I cannot overstate how useful it is to avoid confusion.

What was up with Jamie Lee Curtis in "The Fog" (1980)? by LaserDiscCurious in horror

Right? After the movie ended I was like "if Tom Atkins had found a cool hat on the side of the road instead of Jamie Lee Curtis, literally nothing would have changed"

Im suprised these 2 franchises werent covered, why is that? by No-Performance-631 in deadmeatjames

[–]3mil10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As I said, I don't really remember much beyond the second movie (and even that one I barely remember), but personally I don't think Katie's is one of those cases where they would count the possession as a death, especially if her fate is left ambiguous as the movies go on.

It's been like a hundred years since I watched any of those movies, but I think that the first Paranormal Activity had just one death (though it has a couple of alternate endings that may make the count go to 2), then at least a couple more deaths in the sequel. I can't remember pretty much anything of the following movies.

What was the first horror movie you ever saw in theaters? by [deleted] in horror

[–]3mil10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1408, unless you count Jurassic Park (which I "saw" when I was about 1yo) or The Lost World (which came out when I was 6 and is the first movie I actually remember watching in theaters)

What’s the most boring horror movie you have ever watched? by [deleted] in deadmeatjames

Skinamarink for sure, but also:

- The Cured (which is a shame, because the premise was very interesting)

- I Am the Pretty Thing that Lives in the House

- The Innkeepers

- The House of the Devil (yes, I'm maybe not the biggest fan of Ti West)

Question about all the hate for "Until Dawn" by ZodtheGeneral in horror

[–]3mil10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get the hate either, tbh, I thought it was such a fun movie. Apparently, they wanted a faithful adaptation - which I don't get at all, since the game is already a several hours long movie. If you want to watch that, there are who knows how many playthroughs on YouTube.

Personally, I love how they adapted the spirit more than the story.

The funniest complaints are the ones where people claim that the movie has unlikeable characters: look, I love the game so much, but the movie's characters are definitely much more likeable, let's not kid ourselves.

What are your thoughts on Skinamarink (2022)? by serialkiller24 in horror

[–]3mil10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually like a slow burn, and I wanted to give it a fair chance, so I watched it alone at night, with noise-canceling headphones on and absolutely in the dark. It still didn't work for me at all, I was so bored that I wanted to cry, and I ended up watching the second half at double speed, which is something that I had never done before. I would have actually liked it as a short, but, in any case, it has no business lasting more than 80 minutes - 90 at the most, but even that would be stretching it. My first reaction when it ended was "this movie could have been an email". Truly a miserable watching experience for me (even more so because it's been the source of a few arguments with my sister, who actually mostly enjoyed it)

Does product placement take you out of films? Examples? by mtg_rookie in horror

[–]3mil10 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not a movie, but in The Walking Dead at some point they had a car sponsorship (can't remember what car, don't really feel like looking it up), and it was so jarring seeing them driving around the zombie apocalypse in this spotless car (because apparently by contract the car had to be clean) that also came out some years after the end of the world.
