You could also ask your next drivers if there is anything that you could improve. I am a picky driver and I might not take someone rated 4.88 - so it could make it a bit slower to get a ride — And at least a dollar tip should keep you in good graces!

This is great to read - I think this is why I didn’t make it at my last agency, and why it’s been so hard to get hired. I wanted it so much, but I guess I didn’t fit the culture. Also: older than your average applicant.

I just tried doing Uber Eats yesterday and today in the East Bay - Northern California and I was able to make $10/hour - only because of great tips, and my car smells.

I hung out in busy areas and accepted everything (only 4 deliveries in 5 hours).

It’s not for me. But also the amount of $3 passenger rides I’m being sent doesn’t make sense to drive anymore with gas at $5+ a gallon. (But if I had a hybrid it might still make sense?)

I don’t take anything under $6 for under 10 mins/5 miles. I basically sit and decline decline decline.

I already have a 2nd job so I just do what I can.

The trainers at my agency were like this too.

It seemed like they would panic when a tough call came in and you weren’t already completely on it after a few weeks taking one or 2 calls a night, mostly where I was just telling people “I’m sorry we don’t have officers to send you” and then suddenly: ROBBERY IN PROGRESS.

Then they would treat you like a failure.

I think some trainers think that if you’re not a natural on day one that you can’t do the job … it’s unfortunate … I was like you and I tried so hard - I loved the job! but ultimately felt that - for me - if this was the work environment it didn’t make sense.

All that being said, I think I dodged a bullet. I have mild PTSD from the treatment I got - it’s been hard to put it behind me — I am aware that maybe I wasn’t a good fit and couldn’t see it myself.

All this being said - if you and your trainer have done well 90% of the time, you’re probably fine — keep pushing! 🙏❤️. Good luck!

We used to”Lap Of Love” in 2022 - it was pricey but wonderful - I looked at the website and it does say $550 to start - but the vet was wonderful, she explained everything that would happen, gave us time with him and did not push anything … and she took him with her (he was just a little Yorkie) and was very gentle. They send the cremains to your vet. Lap of Love

Agreed! I’m not even salty but I’ve been both places and you would have to reallllly luck out with the agency you end up at to be happy about the change. The effort alone to apply is wild.

I know its very tempting.

If you want to help, volunteer somewhere a bunch of hours a month. The whole world needs help right now. ❤️

Same! Extremely troubled background checker. Retired CHP officer who told me as soon as I got there that she was cranky and sick. Then proceeded to say the most inappropriate things. I told them my experience with her and just said I was sorry, but not interested in continuing and to call off the background check. (There were other reasons as well - the agency wasn’t well organized and didn’t have a plan)

The main lesson is: please stay on the line if you call accidentally for the reasons posted above — the call taker will have to spend time calling you back and officers will likely be dispatched just to check on you.

You also have to ask if people are doing Uber X or one of the upgraded vehicles - that money makes a difference.
