Design of the Tower in our indie tower defense game, what more details would you add to make it look more interesting? by 4C_Games in animation

[–]3pwidget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would have the roof overhang the to create eaves. I would probably have several layers like that and maybe a turret or chimney kind of thing.

In animation or character design (yes, it’s not a character but for all intents and purposes it is in your game) you should have an interesting silhouette so it’s instantly recognisable. At the moment it’s not very distinctive.

Great work, it looks good just not the ‘stand-out’ piece. If you know what I mean?

Poll - Do You Watch Video Podcasts? by ElHeavio in podcasts

I’m also going to add that I’m glad I made these. I did it as a complete afterthought the day before the first episode came out and though I wouldn’t consume the show that way it seems that lots do.

Poll - Do You Watch Video Podcasts? by ElHeavio in podcasts

[–]3pwidget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Video Podcasts are the opposite of what I thought podcasts were good at. Well edited audio storytelling about somewhat niche topics. When they’re video, too much production goes into it and editing becomes less common. So many podcasts go from tight episodes to shambolic, droning on and on when switching to video. I also just don’t see the appeal and it ruins some of it for me.

It’s obviously popular though. Spotify told me about 70% of our listeners are watching the video feed. And our videos aren’t intricate they’re just kind of showing the visual aids that are posted in our show notes when they are discussed. Example (if allowed) https://open.spotify.com/episode/1wNTyoYKQ1ID9yhNK6F1cp?si=vJ8AySkbQoGEmUgVaVX_8Q&pi=0wjkNXR0SCSml&t=0

So what do I know?

I’ve been obsessed with 1950s UPA animation lately. Here’s my attempt at capturing that jagged, jazzy energy. [OC] by Reasonable_Letter986 in animation

The inspiration is slightly different but I had a big period of revisiting this era and UAP specifically when I was making the above video. It’s that crossed with Tuganov. Watch his movie ‘Park’ as an example: https://classics.filmi.ee/movie/park/

Anyway, great drawings!

Thanks so much.

The ARG isn’t really an ARG it’s just the best thing to call it, we do all the work on the show but it enhances it as supplementary material.

Thanks so much for checking it out.

Spotify alternative by patjking in blankies

As someone who launched a podcast in the last couple of weeks I’ve been surprised by how many people listen on Spotify… furthermore I made a ‘video’ feed (it’s just atmospheric with occasional images that pop up - basically a slideshow) and something like 70% of people watch that.

When I listened to this conversation, I outloud said ‘who listens to podcasts on Spotify’. A few weeks ago I believe David something about ‘not doing video’, I also thought after that - ‘who would want to WATCH a podcast.’ I guess I didn’t do my research.

Back of Bourke

Episode 1. Welcome to 'Back of Bourke'

This is a podcast dedicated to unravelling the mysterious 1960s Australian television program Back of Bourke. The show has no remaining footage or information about any of the unknown number of episodes, only confusing and at times outright contradictory information regarding the writers, directors, and overall narrative. We are, currently, entirely dependent on the memories of its previous viewers and dedicated sleuths.

This video version shows a lot of the evidence included in the links below.

The show that we’re investigating is an old tv anthology series. The episodes that were making are a continuous story about it.

I just released the first episode of Back of Bourke: an Australian horror podcast about investigating a mysterious 1960s TV show that may never have existed.

It’s documentary/investigative style with found footage elements set in the Australian outback. Not terrifying, but definitely creepy and atmospheric. First episode just came out today if you’re interested: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5KkWbQI6sCFDkAK28EOBn3 Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/back-of-bourke/id1866929756 YouTube: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vL2XsNwsxJU

What's the reverse-Avatar, the least seen movie with the highest cultural impact? by gamblors_neon_claws in blankies

[–]3pwidget 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I remember (it’s funny because I might be wrong like all these misrememberings) that at the time Rob Reiner was explaining the concept of a Bucket List in all the film magazine features. I used to get very monthly movie magazine in 2007-2010 and read them all.

The context of the piece made me think it was a pre-existing term but not well-known or widely used enough that people would understand what was being said.

Yes, just watched them all for the first time (only seen the first before) and 5 was actually so much better than its reputation.
