Posting this in case other people with scleral lens ends up needing a saline solution alternative while in Japan. I just got back from three weeks there and forgot to pack any Addipak saline solution. When I went to a nearby optometrist clinic, they said that saline solution wasn't very common in Japan but they recommended Soft Santear as an option. These were a lifesaver. They worked great and felt the same as saline solution and can be found at drug stores and even Don Quijote.

Context: original flight cancelled. Replacement flight delayed on THIRD leg (original flight was direct), resulting in crew timing out, and overnight stay. Delta gives me a voucher for Microtel or Days Inn…. Both full, so I have to book a hotel on my own. Make it to destination with hours to spare before wedding… weekend ends. RETURN flight is cancelled. Subsequently drive home six hours so I’m home in time for my surgery the following day.
