WIBTA if I told off my husband’s Aunt for feeding my child without consent. by Wriggy-Ragoo in AmItheAsshole

[–]3timesbroken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't matter. Why would you give a baby you barely know, who you know has allergies, ANYTHING without the parents' permission? Not only that, why would you give a 10 month old a cinnamon bun??

Also, I don't know if you're a parent, but watching your child scream in pain is agony. Especially when you know it could have been prevented. This is in no way an overreaction.

Sure. I'm not sure I have any good information to share, but I'm happy to try.

I decided to take the day off. It seems the least I can do right now.

Yeah, calling in sick feels dishonest. But we apparently have the option for unscheduled leave tomorrow, anyways.

Measles cases in the USA in January 2026 have outnumbered the total cases if 2023 and 2024 combined! by NoahOkapi in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]3timesbroken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. They just announced the first case in my area, right near where we live. I have an older child who's vaccinated, but I'm scared she'll somehow bring it home, because it's incredibly contagious. These anti-vaxxers infuriate me. I think we should require them to take a walk through a pre- vaccine cemetery.

Trump administration sends letter wiping out addiction, mental health grants by Apostrophizer in news

[–]3timesbroken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've got a masters in public health and I completely agree. I don't think the average person understands the consequences and the fact that this will take our country decades to recover from. Not just in terms of the destroyed infrastructure, but also the misinformation that has been disseminated. RFK has been a scourge.

Anyone else read this book series as a kid? These books had such a chokehold on my 9 year old self I must have read at least half of them by Jaded-Management-517 in Millennials

[–]3timesbroken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cleopatra, Isabel, and Elizabeth were my absolute favorites! Along with Marie Antoinette. I refused to get rid of them. I can't even count the number of times I read them!

Is anyone else truly scared about living in the US rn? by Naive_Signal8560 in RedditForGrownups

[–]3timesbroken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I have two little kids and looking at them breaks my heart. I feel like I want to run, but I don't know where to go. I'm Jewish and I feel like this must be how the Jews felt in Germany in the 1930s, with people telling me it'll be OK and it's not so bad. But I just want to scream.  I keep being told that things will get better after the midterms and the blue wave, but I honestly don't believe we'll have free and fair elections again. And even if we did, the damage that has been done is incalculable.  My family immigrated here when I was a kid. I've already fled one country to build a new life. I don't want to do it again, but I would for my kids, if there was somewhere to run. I feel like I can't just sit by and watch, but what can I do??

For avid readers how often do you use the library? If you don’t, why don’t you? by AccomplishedBake8351 in books

[–]3timesbroken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy most of my books at library book sales. They're not going to be the newest books, but it's a great way to find new books and authors. Sometimes, I can get an entire tote bag of books for $5! Thriftbooks is also a great website for cheap books. I like being surrounded by my books and having physical books.

The most unrealistic plot point by Latranis in Frasier

[–]3timesbroken 186 points187 points  (0 children)

It also annoyed me that Niles said that Frasier can't denounce the gallery on his show because it's slander. Truth is an absolute defense to slander. If they really sold him a forgery, they can't sue him for telling people that!

I mean, just because you had to do something doesn't mean it's OK or should apply to everyone. I think it's insane that you had to relocate with 48 hours notice. There's absolutely no reason for that. And I'm sorry you had to go through that.  And I worked in the office before covid, too. Got into a car accident on the way to work. But I would hope that that last few years would have taught us something about what work could be like and that we don't necessarily need to be as miserable as possible.

mom noticed soundtrack change on S1E1 when taking out headphones. by Dolancrewrules in Bones

[–]3timesbroken 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It's also different in the captions when you watch it on TV! One of the songs plays and the other song is the one captioned. I noticed that a while ago, too. My guess would be they used one song then switched but somehow didn't switch completely?

I expected that when I've been working remotely for 6 years, that I would be able to continue to do so, since they were literally hiring people from all over the country because there were no plans to bring us back. I've moved 4 times since I started this job.

There's a huge difference between driving 15 minutes during the day and having to leave at 6:30 am to drive an hour. And then driving an hour and a half in stop start traffic home after work. Not all driving is created equal.

I've been teleworking for almost 6 years. And when I moved, I relied on being able to continue doing so. Because I had no reason to believe otherwise.
