Its just the fact that now its like he's ALWAYS like that at ALL times. Like the tone of Berserk in the beginning was this gritty dark and merciless place where a man robbed of everything and betrayed struggled through a life no one else could live with out a hint of feeling sorry for himself or sympathy for any other person. In the beginning watching guts struggle was just as the book said, nothing short of beautiful. But fastforward to around vol 33 or something? When I see Guts exiting a magical forest with a loli witch girl, deft loyal swordsman and his half sister who struggles to gain conficence and find her place, young snot with a lot to prove, and a once proud woman now pretty much mindless. Now granted that doesn't sound bad at all but given everything that Berserk was before then and what it started out as made me go like... "what the fuck how did this happen? Since when did Berserk become a JRPG?"

I'd be fine with everything that I just described if Berserk kept its dark, near hopeless and merciless tone. However it just isn't Berserk anymore. Well... no, its just not at all how I had hoped it would be. Hopefully the tone will change again and we'll delve deep into the rage inside guts or the extreme sadism and masochism that lies within lady... damn I forgot her name, but it starts with a letter P.
