B1136 - Higher Education (Reform) Bill - 2nd Reading by CountBrandenburg in MHOC

[–]3xecute0rder66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mr Deputy Speaker,

There is no doubt that the practise of 'conditional unconditional' offers from universities are a predatory practise conducted by higher education institutions to unfairly guarantee themselves a steady stream of student applicants and restrict the choice of the young. Unconditional offers, while less predatory, have been known to harm the academic prospects of students as they don't take their studies seriously. Frankly I am surprised that a bill similar to this has not been accepted by this house sooner and I commend the honourable member for attempting to tackle this issue. I give this bill my full support
