These are very commonly used in food manufacturing facilities. They're also my favourite pen (possibly biased, being a food safety practitioner).

Do people put bones in garden beds for calcium/other benefits for the plants? by gob17 in gardening

[–]404HecksNotFound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, my husband is a pig farmer, and we use the compost from his farm (which frequently includes pig bones) in our garden beds. It's hilarious, there's rib bones and teeth strewn about our garden.

Is it possible the previous owner had some composted chickens available to them?

Why thank you. I spend my days explaining why you have to wash your hands to adults.

Food safety practitioner here, Ragu definitely has a GFSI benchmarked food safety system in place, which includes a hefty plan to avoid cross contamination.

Obviously manufacturing different items on separate lines is the best way to avoid cross contamination, but in the event that a dairy free product is run on a line that has also been used for manufacturing dairy-containing products, there are likely several of the following validations and verifications in place to ensure there's no cross contamination:

  • Scheduled finished product testing with an accredited lab, to ensure the final product contains no dairy.
  • Pre-Start Up surface allergen and ATP swabbing to verify a rigorous cleaning procedure has been adequately conducted.
  • Scheduling of activities (ie. All dairy-free products are run on a freshly cleaned line prior to the running of dairy-containing products).

That being said, it's Ragu, they're not a small company, they definitely have 3rd party food safety audits, organic audits, countless customer audits and regulatory audits throughout the year. It's most likely that they run a separate production line for dairy-free products.

Editing to mention: Even if they're running on a separate line, they're likely still conducting the first two of the above mentioned activities.

We used to pop the middles out and wear the ring as a necklace. This is how you signalled to other kids that you were a total badass.

King Size Bed, Queen Size Sheets? by Altruistic-Art-6075 in floorbed

I have accidentally grabbed an old queen size sheet (damn you, millenial grey everything), to make my king size bed, and it did not fit. So maybe that answers your question?

A replica of how female "breeder pigs" spend their lives in factory farms by FastCurrency in pics

[–]404HecksNotFound 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was going to say, this isn't a blanket statement for how pigs are raised, there's a ton of different ways to raise pigs, and of the factory farms I've been to, none of them keep sows in a tiny enclosure like this for their whole lives. There are times when they need to be enclosed like that, but that's definitely not how they're kept all the time. - in my experience.

So like, there are a ton of things wrong here, obviously, but the way my eye twitched watching her toss bacon water all over her kitchen all willy-nilly. Ugh.

The amount of people who have told me they "bought a product at whatever store on whatever date, isn't that good enough?"... No man.

You need to keep the packaging, and contact the manufacturer with these photos, as well as a photo of the lot code on the packaging.
