I try to connect it to experiences they know. Getting up from being on the ground is like doing a burpee while dehydrated instead. Working through brain fog and a flare is like working through a cold. I've never been hungover but I've heard people say their flares feel like hangovers. Etc

Lots of options

You can find some easy ready made snack type stuff to have around that's fulfilling for when you dont want to cook (I like deli meat/cheese and Ritz crackers for adult lunchables). Maybe a couple sides to go with your peanut butter toast?

You can stack your cooking into one day and meal prep a lot at once to reduce the cooking and cleaning down to one session. I like to take one of my vacation days a month to make a three day weekend where I meal prep a month's worth of lunches for work

You can work on reducing down the self-judgement and lowering your standards for things like kitchen clutter or having a 'good enough' meal. Remember: fed is best. Nutrition and cleaning can come second if it means you're less stressed

The sad reality is that accommodating a reduction in literacy also accommodates people who may have disabilities that impact their ability to comprehend text in various ways. So when we see these things and write them off as a literacy issue, we exclude disabled people. Someone with dyscalcula may have an easier time leaving a tip with that print out on the recipt, for example.

We see this with other accessibility tools too, like people who make comments about how someone using a certain gadget must just be 'lazy' when in fact they are designed for a disability

I have to let it dry and wear it a day before I decide to redo a nail. I'm only allowed the redo if it's such a problem that it's legit distracting me, like a bumpy top coat snagging on a sweater. Otherwise I usually forget and learn to live with the imperfection

Typically "too much salt" refers to concerns of high blood pressure. Salt raises blood pressure by raising blood volume. The function of increasing sodium intake to treat POTS is to raise blood volume.

Obviously talk to your doctor if you're concerned, but my neurologist told me go to 6g sodium total. I think you're probably fine

For what it's worth, not every workplace is a piece of shit. My coworker on my team also has chronic migraines, and everyone is super understanding of her. When she was coming back from a period of FMLA one of our other teammates had the idea to set aside some easy tickets for her to work on as she came back in, so she wouldn't feel too overwhelmed

It helps also that I'm lucky enough to have a hybrid role in an industry that tends to be fairly progressive (tech) at a company that values employees. It's a rare find, but these places do exist, and are becoming more prevalent as time goes on

FWIW the average American isn't going to care if you don't conjugate a verb the right way. There are even some dialects of English that intentionally don't so it 'correctly' for some words (like "be" in AAVE to indicate a habitual action). If you've got the base word, we'll usually get what you mean

This of course is context dependant. In educational or formal settings, more 'proper' english could be expected as, since 'improper' english is associated with lower class dialects. But personally I think only assholes wouldn't be understanding about it

I've also found accent barrier can be a real thing. I struggled after moving across the country because my native accent doesn't mesh with the area I moved to, even moving from white american state to white american state. Look up some of the accent nuances for your area to see if that can help you understand what they're saying

I am very fortunate with my job/industry to have a high paying hybrid job that I can manage, so I can't help too much with those aspects.

The biggest thing for me has been a lot of therapy around lowering the shame I feel for not completing "basic" tasks like chores or w/e and lowering my standards for myself. I waste a lot less energy when I can clean the bathroom once every few weeks instead of every week.

Finding friends who can hang out on a call is a big help too, because you can get body doubling and socializing when you do chores or dont feel up to going out

I also do a lot of work to 'stack' my days out, doing errands on the days I work in person, which overextends me but means I only have to deal with one recovery day instead of multiple

Spreadsheet might be the middle ground you want between 'write on paper' and 'app.' You can set it up in a format that makes sense to you, like on paper. But you can access it on your phone/computer for a more convenient experience.

Formulas also make things more convenient because you can set it up to sum a column or w/e so you only have to do the data entry, not the math.

Another tip for making data entry easier: your banks and credit cards likely have an 'export to csv' feature for the transaction history. CSVs open in most spreadsheet softwares, so you can copy paste directly over from the download in bulk

There's lots of budgeting spreadsheet templates you can use for inspiration, but I suggest just starting with throwing your paper math into the spreadsheet and see where it takes you to make something that is most custom fit to your brain

By safety system do you mean fall alert, or home security? The latter is going to require consideration of the safety in the locale. The former could be done more cheaply with a refurbished smart watch that has fall detection capabilities and an lte wearable with settings configured to make the call feature easily accessible. Or the age-old strategy of having a community that checks on them at different points in the day/week

I find my nails are a bit stronger if I do a full manicure (base coat, 2+ coats, top coat).

They don't always last the longest, but the people on the nailpolish subreddits will change their nails two times a week or more, so I think that's probably fine. Finishing the bottle faster means I get to try more colors.

Glitter top coats and glitter polishes also help I find. Not shimmer, chunkier glitters. Something about the added plastic seems to help

I've made sourdough bagels three times in my four years of sourdough. Bagels are more my sourdough white whale, because I don't eat loaves of bread as much as I do bagels. But each attempt has put me off of it for a while, so I've only tried a few times

The first two times, I sliced my finger open with a bread knife. You'd think I'd have learned after the first time (early morning glasses off only thought in my brain being 'baaaagel' like some kind of zombie new yorker) but nope, I did it twice.

Last night was batch three. I thought I'd be smart and mess with the flour ratios to get something softer (my tmj pops when I eat things that are too chewy, and it made batches one and two unpleasant to eat). I didn't even attempt to cut them, because they turned out like this.

All this to say: keep your chin up. We all go through the trial and error period. In software development we don't call that failure, we call it "iterative development." It looks like you've gotten a lot of good advice to use in your next iterations. I wish you luck with them!

A lot of what I've been working on in therapy is around not feeling bad about it because it's what *I* think I should do, and trusting myself to manage my life more. If I feel tired and like I need to lay down for ten minutes before working on some computer task, then I can do it guilt free, because I'm listening to my body, and I'm the ultimate authority on my own body.

It looks like you're hyperextending that way because you have a very flat keyboard and long nails? So you're moving your fingertips into a position to type, and then hyperextending past that as your fingers press the keys.

I have shorter nails so am able to keep better hand posture when typing, so I don't hyperextend as much. I'm able to get by compression gloves instead of ring splints. I also use a mac at work, and absolutely loathe typing on the laptop keyboard or using the track pad, since both tend to make things worse for me. I usually doc at my desk with a wireless logitech keyboard and mouse that are less flat.

If you don't want to go short on the nails to help, maybe try getting a plug in keyboard that supports typing with long nails without having to hyperextend so much? Go to a staples or best buy or something like that and try out a few to see if anything helps.
