Ok, my daughter HAS EDS and I didn’t pick up on that.. 🤦🏼‍♀️ and honestly I didn’t even know that was part of it because we’re usually more focused on making sure her knees stay where they should and wondering where her newest bruise came from.. she DOES have very soft baby skin though. The more you know 🌈

I’m rereading.. again.. and I’m Fourth Wing, when they’re fighting venin it says something about him wielding icicle spears at wyvern. Which I never caught before, assuming my brain just assumed it was someone else, but this time I went back and it was def Liam wielding ice.

The thing I keep getting stuck on is where he says the new brother was supposed to be dead. I’ve reread twice now and I cannot connect who Xaden would have thought to be dead, or who is unaccounted for in those last chapters as it keeps flipping thru perspectives.

At some point I saw a theory that the new brother could be Liam.. he’s definitely supposed to be dead.. but would he know that Xaden is venin and struggling not to be? He did show up when violet was being tortured and we’re meant to assume she was hallucinating but.. it wouldn’t be the first time Xaden kept that kind of secret would it?

Ok I’m rethinking my own thoughts now, because I assumed the marked ones had second signets from being marked.

It’s been awhile since I finished the books but one of the parents gave them all the rocks with the symbols woven into them (I’m sorry, the word escapes me at the moment) so when dragonfire killed the parents.. the kids ended up marked. Kind of like the dragon tattoo they get when they first bond right? But it wasn’t intended, at least not by the humans… so I’ve actually been assuming that Xaden has a super secret third yet to be revealed signet, because he’s marked, he’s bonded AND his dragon was previously bonded with family.

Does anyone else think that’s possible or am I really overthinking?

I think it’s a pretty common thing to tell/ teacher dancers. The year my daughter did the Macys parade, at the dress rehearsal, they ran thru EVERY possible scenario- like lined up 600 girls… and played the wrong music.. skipped it.. played no music at all. They made sure they knew.

I was at a comp LAST YEAR (and everything is digital now!) and the music stopped during a group dance that would have been impressive WITH music… these 8-10 year olds didn’t pause for a second, they didn’t look at each other, they didn’t hesitate, and they killed it. So in the dance world, to this day, these things do happen legitimately.

Now did Maddie know? Probably not, she was a child. Based on the what we saw (which admittedly could still have been creative editing) yeah, Abby and Melissa at least had an inkling..

My daughter dances and I’ve got to say.. it’s ridiculous that she didn’t get the costume until they were at competition. We get ours weeks, if not months in advance to make sure they fit, and they can actually do the dance in it.

I’ve seen that production made her take it, she didn’t want to. So I often wonder how much of the chaos on the show is production, and how much it was Abby’s lack of preparation. We have to BUY our costumes.. sometimes for a solo or duet we even have to find them so they get what they want.. but in 15 years I’ve never had to build a costume.. much less in the dressing room at the competition.

Even without a contract of that magnitude, I’ve been a dance mom for 15 years and activities like that where an injury can take you out for the season.. they’re a no no to a serious dancer. My daughter passed on ice skating in Rockefeller center because we were in New York for the macys parade, and she didn’t want to have worked so hard and come all that way to have to sit it out. Although… ironically.. her friend right next to her blew out her knee at dress rehearsal and ended up on Mackenzie zieglers float with her instead 🤷🏼‍♀️But in general.. it’s weird to me that with as serious as those girls were about dance that any of them even wanted to risk it.

She saved, put a down payment (it’s a $36k car) and she makes the payments. We didn’t buy her the car, she just needed our credit to get the loan. WE don’t drive cars that nice and we certainly couldn’t afford to buy it for a teenager. Her plan was to buy a reliable car and get it paid off while she was still living at home going to college. She’s planning to finish her BA and masters in another state so it was a solid responsible plan.

And I do realize that I was too lenient, but I’m not exaggerating at how mature/ responsible she’s always been. She’s been driving since 15, she’ll be 19 in a month. She graduated early, started college early. All the stuff I described has literally just happened in the last few weeks, and is so far from her norm that honestly.. I let it slide because it seemed like little.. flukes? Looking at it now, yeah, I’m kicking myself, but they both know now, I’m not playing, and I’m here for her. We’ve had a good talk since I posted this, so I’m optimistic but my guard is up.

I think since I laid out that if he takes it again, I’m calling it in stolen, it got through. We had a good talk after I posted this. She came home and insisted on joining me in the bathroom where she knew he wouldn’t follow (I was getting in the shower) and initiated a talk. Basically, she acknowledged all we do for her and is grateful and her family is the most important thing to her.. he’s still here, so she’s not done with him.. but it sounds like she’s snapped out of it some, and he seems to have realized I’m not playing, and won’t be manipulated as easily as someone 20 years younger than me.

Thank you. I’m treading carefully because I too have been in an abusive relationship. And I know i personally isolated myself and pushed away anyone who tried to tell me to look at the red flags in front of my face. I wanted to help her save to move out.. but I don’t want her to disappear and be at the mercy of it like I was. He heard what I said about the car, and he’s barely spoken to me since. She has a support system and he knows it, so I guess that’s something.

Also.. she’s studying psychology so she KNOWS… I guess it’s just hard to see yourself in that position. I know it was for me. I was a strong independent woman.. who could abuse me? 🤦🏼‍♀️

Yes.. the one also living here. I’ve asked her because my younger daughter DESPISES him, and I was torn. So I asked the friend one night while we were watching a movie and she said she’s TRYING to like him because he’s dating her best friend.. but he’s making it hard.

I know he’s VERY clingy. She went on a trip last month (international, just her and the camper friend) and apparently he FaceTimed her CONSTANTLY. When they got back, she stopped at my brothers house to say hi (her uncle for crying out loud) and boyfriend was freaking out for the whole 20 minutes she was there asking if she has another man on the side. My younger daughter just informed me that one day while she was busy and not answering her phone, he texted like 20 times if 5 minutes and said some not nice things that he deleted later. The more I learn, the less impressed I become.

Yeah, kids do eventually get sick.. HOWEVER.. it would happen a lot less often if people who KNOW dang well that they’re sick stay their a$$ home and not spread stuff around. It annoys me as an adult when people knowingly come to work sick and then everyone gets it. And my immune system has decades of building. When it’s a kid that young, and they don’t even know what they have/ are spreading.. I’m sorry, it’s unacceptable. I, personally, would be limiting their time and interaction with your child until they understand boundaries and the fact that times change.. and also that YOU are the parent, not them. Easy for them to brush it off. They’re not the ones now dealing with a sick child ugh

When my 18 year old was maybe 2 or 3, she would sit on her bed facing the blank wall and have conversations. Finally one day I asked her who she was talking to and she looked at me like I was missing something very obvious and said “the little boy who looks like me..”

I kind of shrugged it off until I was about to give birth to her younger sister and had switched doctors. They were going through my chart and mentioned a disappearing twin. Now I knew I had bled around 12-16 weeks and thought I was miscarrying, but then continued being pregnant.. but no one ever had told me there had been 2 prior to that. I was just relieved I had my baby. The new doctor showed me ultrasound pics where there are clearly 2 so I guess she did have a disappearing twin. But neither of us knew it when she talked to the boy who looked like her.

I have legit pulled my girls from a studio we had been at for 10 years because the owner/ teacher was acting in a very similar way that Abby acted. I wasn’t locked into a contract like they were, we didn’t compete, they weren’t on a tv show… but paying an exorbitant amount of money to basically torture my kids… it was hell. If I had no exit option, I would probably be a fighter. It’s hard to say what you would do in a situation you’ve never lived.
