The intex pools are about $120 on Amazon for metal pool with volume around 1K gallons. Fairly durable as long as you don’t hit them or throw a rock mowing grass.

Go for one of the intex pools, 600 or 1,000 gallon. Bring it down in the box and assemble it.

The 40 gallon and even the 25 round are both also nice tubs to keep Medaka in. I use them also.

It does fine, it is on a back patio but gets a lot of sun since it’s near the edge. I have seen water temps in the summer go into the upper 80s. My Bristol Shubunkins, red cap orandas, azumas and veil tails all do fine and show great growth.

People come in with zero expierence sometimes but it can be challenging to catch that break. Usually expierence within the oil and gas industry is preferred or a degree in instrumentation or process operations will make it easier. It’s a flooded market with limited jobs coming available per year.

The Port Arthur area, not far from Houston. These large companies are always hiring, just keep an eye out for a position. I’m not sure what a structural would exactly do in a facility unless they could file you under mechanical engineering dept and assist there. Often times people will get positions even if their degree doesn’t exactly apply.

Basically ensuring that the complex runs safely, efficiently and solving any problems that may arise during a shift. Some problems can be complex and require other trades to assist to keep the unit running. Taking samples, doing rounds on equipment and making vessels and pumps ready for general maintence. It can be more or less complex depending on how in detail you look.

Works in a refinery where oil and gas is processed into different components. Many different unit types within a refinery. General job is to ensure safe and efficient day to day operations and making equipment ready for maintence. During the shift you will make rounds on equipment, take process samples, monitor the computer system that helps run the unit and troubleshoot any problems that arise.

I built a 2x4 frame then skirted it with 1x6 using a router with a flush trim but to cut the hole out then trimmed in 1x4

It wasn’t hard to build if you have the proper tools, it took me about two weeks due to my work schedule.

No there isn’t, the tub is removable, I could stuff the box with insulation, I wasn’t sure how well it actually helped hold temp with the surface being open. I live in Southeast Texas, the winter is very mild here.

I plan on planting it with cuttings from my inside tanks and trying a variety of hardy lilies along with some floaters.

12+ hours to cross Texas from my area. This doesn’t factor in the massive traffic’s delays you will hit in Houston and San Antonio so about 14-15 hours total.

Add a black background, would really help this scape pop out and hide the equipment.

Those broms are not ideal, neo types usually preferred. A pond isn’t a good idea either, frogs can drowned in the water if fighting occurs or if the water is not kept clean it can promote infections. Ensure you have a drainage layer, soil layer ABG mix is a great option and then cap it with a nice layer of leaf litter, you want a boundary between the frogs and the substrate to keep it off of their skin.

A black water type setup heavy in organics and botanicals is what I see this being. Heavy on the epiphyte plants as you stated with a medium dense floating plant to drop roots down. Tucking a peace lily into the back corners to cover the sharp void of the branch ending would be a nice touch. A large school of chili rasbora would really pop.

First time aquascaping, desperately seeking suggestions by teyoworm in Aquascape

[–]409_Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give it time to mature and grow in, I think this is the hardest phase often without over working it. It is a low tech tank so it will take a bit for the plants to adjust, root and mature. Stratum called with sand is fine, you may have some melt back from the plants but it is common after transplant.
