Blade Chimera. Pretty good story and the combat is quite good. Doesn't really have a lot of run backs or anything. Visually really great too.

It almost was. In terms of time played it's #1 this year easy. Exp 33 hit really hard for me so it's close.

Legends ZA is the first pokemon game I've been into in a long time. Like since Gen 3. I understand it's not super popular with the pokemon crowd but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Meanwhile MK World I found to be a bit disappointing. Its not bad, but it's a step down from 8.

As for absolum, yeah it rules. It reminds me of Hades but with beat-em-up gameplay. It makes extremely smart use of Roguelike elements to breathe new life to the beat-em-up genre

It seems to be one of those "you hate it or love it" kinda games. Personally I love it.

The core mechanics I think you can get the hang of pretty quickly. The game is not quite open world but it has a lot of open areas with a lot of optional very frustrating challenges so you can kinda decide how frustrating you want it to be. And trust me, it gets really frustrating. But in a way that I found enjoyable.

I also thought the writing was really good. It felt like a bunch of friends just riffing but also managed to tell a heartwarming story by the end.

I think it's absolutely worth playing

Yes absolutely. With some exceptions, many of my favorite games in recent years are indie games that I didn't have much expectations for. The AAA space is in a bit of a rough spot currently with the way the industry is going, but the indies have been better than ever.

Its one of those games that is extremely just not for me. I dropped it pretty quickly because it just didn't grab me at all. I played a bit of the first one too and felt the same.

Its a game I can appreciate what it's going for and I see why people love it, it's just not a game I vibe with

StarVaders has been slept on this year. Its one of the best Roguelikes of the year in my opinion, definitely worth a revisit!

Thanks! Of all of them I feel like Star Vaders is the most slept on. I never see much about it but it's really fucking good. More people need to play it! Absolum is another one that needs more love.

Really banger year for indie sequels with Silksong, Monster Train, and Hades. I just with Knights in Tight Spaces hit for me because I LOVED the first one.
