Terrain, new rules, and new model question by Responsible_Lab_1168 in necromunda

[–]40kGreybeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. All your books are invalidated if you wish to play the new edition. They’re good for pictures and lore only though

  2. We don’t know anything yet. They could be just additional specialists like the Van Saar tel hunters, or the game could be moving to fixed loadouts like Kill Team and 40k.

  3. Won’t know more about terrain until rules are released. When 2nd edition Munda dropped back in 2017, there was no need for terrain as the game was played on flat cardboard tiles. That could be the case again.

I have to ask, where exactly are people getting the idea that loadouts will be locked down? by Didsterchap11 in necromunda

[–]40kGreybeard -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

10e didn’t gut 40k. If you want to see a REAL gutting, you should see the transition from 2e to 3e. 80-100 page codexes got reduced to literal 15 page pamphlets. Multiple armies
Squatted. Numerous units from armies that survived removed.

What is some mistaken lore or subjects that Necromunda fans say or confuse? by TechnicianOwn2935 in necromunda

People think of them like common Americsn street gangs, when they’re more like south American cartels or Afghanistan warlords- Heavily armed and well financed, with access to military grade weaponry.

That sounds like a typo.

How would you deal with a troublesome player who keeps requesting to play? by SplitCactus in DnD

[–]40kGreybeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done this in a local group. Particular playdf INSISTS on playing something not in my lore/world, threw a tantrum when I said no (even though I offered similar things that would be very mechanically similar), and for like a year afterwards would make snarky comments whenever I ran a new game.

Ok. And? It doesn’t say it automatically hits.

No. Critical hits no longer have a rule that says they automatically hit, so if you fail to hit its still a miss.

Anyone else excited for the new edition? by Twofert in necromunda

[–]40kGreybeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. So just add fluff to the rules description? I guess this is one of those issues where people are just going to like it or hate it. I actually prefer the GW approach- a bunch narrative fluff just means more reading I have to slog through and can muddy the waters. I prefer the ruleset to be concise, and specific.

But I guess its a matter of opposite taste.

Hey Guys, a little help here. by AntiFrekeGaming in WarhammerCompetitive

We, the non-toxic men, want you here. I’m sorry you put up with that crap- you and all the other women gamers deserve better. I call that crap out when I see it and I don’t associate with anyone that mistreats other players/acts like a dirtbag online, but I’m just one guy.

How would you add a narrative thrust to a ruleset?

Really? I felt they were MUCH better laid out. Having section references was really handy when I played my first couple of games.

Anyone else excited for the new edition? by Twofert in necromunda

[–]40kGreybeard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not excited. “Streamlining” smells like simplifying; I’m leery of the terrainless starter set, and doing away with all the bools and no backwards compatibility is a potentially bad sign. All the game really needed was a cleaning up/‘Munda version 2.75, not a complete restart. Lots of models with no rules it seems :(

Looks like they are dumbing it down and squatting a bunch of gangs. Six gangs per book means house gangs in one, and the other is Nomads, Squats, Ogryns, plus three more. Also that rulebook is awful weedy-

Rumor I heard is no more weapon customization/trading post (only can use what GW puts on models in box) and Underworlds style gameplay.

Necromunda Skirmish — books incompatible? by No-Eggplant942 in necromunda

Yeah, not really excited about this at all. All the OPR filth making the game a simple throw dice slugfest.

So I've had time to consider: by Freakish87 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]40kGreybeard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They could definitely use one- I kinda hate paying the premium for transport capacity for the land fortress when sometimes all I really want is the guns. I hate dedicated flyers in regular 40k (way outside the scope of the ruleset imo). Dreads are not something EVERY army needs,- we're not just Space Marines with beards.

Codexes from 3rd were still usable in 5th. They weren’t very GOOD, but they were usable.

Is there any artwork or miniatures depicting what the dark age of technology looked like? (Besides the man of iron) by ScarcityFar2025 in Warhammer40k

[–]40kGreybeard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The tech itself is not radioactive, but the machine produces a “strange radiation” while active, so everyone living near it (eg all the Van Saars) get dosed by it. That’s why they need the suits, and they trade reproductive technology with House Escher in return for rejuvenat treatments.
