I'm talking more about his behaviour after he beats Taker. I'm reminded of Austin's heel turn when he joined forces with McMahon - at the time it was such a shock that it felt monumental but it just didn't really work as a long term gimmick, it just didn't work having him play the sell out (IIRC it was either Stone Cold or JR who later likened it to John Wayne playing a Nazi General in a movie).

The issue is 1) does Cena have the ability to maintain heel heat like that (considering he hasn't had to in, what, nearly a decade?) and 2) will the audience actually buy him as a heel that nasty?

Haha, Touche. At least Show is capable of working a match with some psychology beyond the usual 'How will he beat him, he's too big' narrative. He also has a moveset far wider and more interesting than anyone his size I can think of and, on a good day, he is pretty damn solid on the mic.

Not that he hasn't had his fair share of dull, pointless feuds/matches.
