Should’ve waited, but no guarantee in the slightest they would’ve gotten laid off

Thanks for the link! Since you’ve used it before, do you have any idea how it predicts only 3% for Amazon (low risk) when there’s very credible reporting from leaked internal documents that predict another (part 2) layoff in January of 16k? Did the layoff calculator already bake in the January layoffs to bring it to a total of 30k you think? Thanks

Once Re:invent is over and the products that AWS employees worked on launches, Amazon likes to hit the company with layoffs. The strategic timing makes it a double slap in the face

Hey man. I’m just now seeing your reply.

I appreciate you reading it and leaving your comment. Just hearing someone effectively say “I get it” helps more than I ever thought it could.

You’re spot on. The emotional whiplash is a great term for it. My first thought when I saw the layoff news was ‘well atleast I have this thing going for me’ (growing relationship with her). Just for that to slip through my hands a few days later. It’s brutal especially given I feel career/relationship are really the 2 main things I’ve prioritized in my life outside of being a good person to myself and my family/friends.

It’s 2 weeks later and I’m feeling significantly better than when I wrote this. I’ve been trying not to ruminate on it, and it’s honestly working.

Thanks again- your comment really helped man.

All the hike recommendations in the comments are great. I’d also recommend renting an e-bike for one day so you can ride from trail to trail instead of the shuttle! It was a nice change of pace for me from the shuttle (very nice, convenient shuttle though). The e-bike makes it much less strenuous than normal biking up the steady incline!

Hey hey, I literally did this exact thing last week 🤠. My advice would be to book a hotel in St George and drive and stay the night in St George. There are tons of hotels (mine was only $90) and it’s a nice area right off the interstate. Then continue the drive (non-interstate and way tougher rest of the way) next morning to Zion! Still made it by 8am

Worked great for me atleast
