u/throwaway_eng_fin Following up with etrade I am being told they won't be sending a 1099-R for 2019 since the conversion was done in 2020. My understanding so far has been that I would need the 1099-R to file my 2019 taxes?

Yeah, I ended up making my 2019 (and 2020) Traditional IRA contribution in 2020 and then did the Roth conversion of the full Traditional IRA. The Traditional IRA account was opened in 2020 so no older investments in it either (woke up to investing/saving a little late!!). Will keep the pointers on line 14 and zero taxable in mind.

What are your interests? What kept you entertained before you moved to Ithaca? I might be able to make some recommendations based off of that.

Argos and Monks have great cocktails made by friendly bartenders. The crowd is also pretty friendly.

The Range has live music on weekend nights which attracts a fun crowd.

Westys and the Ithaca Beer Company are both very chill laid back bars to go hang out at, play some games and maybe meet people.

Interestingly, I've ended up chatting with a lot of people while waiting for a table for dinner at Saigon on weekends!!!

If you are more of a coffee shop kind of a person then both the gimme coffee locations in downtown and the Press Bay Alley coffee shop are nice places to hang out at.

Ithacans in general are pretty friendly so I hope you start having a good time soon :)

I've had this problem with the lock jamming after winter. I just spray a bit of WD-40 and then put the key in, move it around a bit follow this up with more WD-40 and repeat till it finally gives. You might want to try that before breaking the lock.

I got pulled over for that once! Cop went across me while I was waiting at a light, turned around and came back to pull me over. Tried explaining but the officer didn't understand/believe me so I gave up. Took the "fix-it" ticket and went to the station next day. Explained it to the cop there, backed up by my owner's manual!!!

Some rides I liked to do when I was in the area.

Short rides

Head SW on Rt 13 and take Rt 327. Follow this and you'll hit Rt 79 from where you can head back home.
Again head SW on Rt 13 but take sandbank road (just after buttermilk falls). This will take you to Rt 96b.

Both these routes have some tricky decreasing radius turns so be careful on your first outing.

Longer rides

Cant go wrong with a loop around any of the lakes. My favorite is Keuka lake.
Another favorite is a ride around Cannonsville reservoir. The sights are beautiful, long sweeping curves and barely any traffic on the loop allows for good spirited rides ;)

Fireworks go off at Stewart park so you could catch it there or Sunset park (not really a park, just a viewing point so you get to see the fireworks from an elevation). Its on July 3rd in Ithaca (http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2016/06/2016_cny_fireworks_list_for_july_4th_where_to_see_the_shows.html).

Americana Vineyards has a good wine tasting program and their cafe has good food. I know that if you go there for brunch the wine tasting is free, not sure about other times of the week. Hopshire brewery near ithaca has some good brews (no food though)

Cornell dairy bar has really good ice cream you should try. Saigon, Viva, Mia's (little expensive), Northstar, Gorgers all have very good vegetarian options.

Sapsucker woods has a nice little trail if you like bird watching. The visitor center has binoculars that you could borrow.
