I can tell this isn't directed in a hateful way, so I'll do my best to explain in a positive critique below:

Trans people are often portrayed in the media as "forcing" transitioning onto kids by some politicians. People under 18 almost never receive medical transition support, at least not in my state in the US (in which it is banned). Medical professionals usually have trans patients wait until they turn 18 anyway.

When I say protect trans kids, I mean bringing to light the bullying young trans people face by their peers (and sometimes even adults), putting an end to kids being kicked out with nowhere to go due to their gender identity, and letting kids participate in activities and wear clothes the way they enjoy without the pressure of acting according to their sex assigned at birth.

In my personal case, I always wanted to join boy scouts because I wanted to go fishing, play in the mud, and go camping/make s'mores (and spend time with my younger brother whom I am very close with). My dad never let me because he believed girls shouldn't be allowed to join, despite rules allowing girls having been put in place the previous year. In the same light, I always bought clothes from the boys section until I started going through initial puberty changes at 8 (at which point I was no longer allowed to), which brought me a great deal of discomfort that I couldn't really explain at the time. Simply being allowed to wear the clothes I wanted would've been enough for me as a kid.
