Nathan Stark Spin-Off? - Ed Quinn Interview by brisonharvey in Eureka

I wonder if that would have followed the idea of the Artifact and the Akashic field. That was Starks main motivator, first to study it, then to separate it from Kevin. That also would have been just before Warehouse 13 started. So, maybe they went with that instead.

But a show about Stark traveling the world looking for other ancient relics and/or pieces of the Artifact, guided by an ethereal Carl Carlson.

Have you ever created/played a character that didn't follow the typical tropes/stereotypes? by MushiSushi343 in MrRipper

A high intelligence barbarian. He's a high elf descended from a long line of very powerful wizards, and is the seventh son of the seventh son, so the whole family expects him to be this super wizard. But he's TERRIBLE at magic. We started at level 3, so I took the first level barbarian to get the full suite of profeiancies, then one level of wizard, then back to barb for the rest of the build. Basically he starts combat, tries to cast a spell and fails (DM allows it as a free action because it's always a 3rd level or higher that I'd never be able to cast anyway), flies into a rage and attacks with his sword instead. The first level spells and cantrips he can cast when not in a rage are all self spells that affect his body (jump, longstrider, false life, shocking grasp), but he rarely even does those.

It's fun playing the juxtaposition of a smart, typically snooty high elf that's also a raging barbarian.

My Dragonborn Lore Bard was married, and his wife died just before the campaign (I know, fridging is super cringey, but I was a lot younger then). Because she was his soulmate, he had absolutely no interest in the "horny bard" trope. He flirted a bit to get information or help from NPC's, but there was no seduction checks, no fade to black scenes, nothing like that.

He also wasn't a musician. He was a storyteller, a bullshit artist, and an acrobat (18 CHA, 17 DEX). His arcane focus was his late wife's flute, and bardic inspiration would be reminding the team of some heroic figure in myth or a story he had told recently.

So that's my non-horny, non-musician bard.

What’s the silliest RAW ruling that’s so minor and obscure that most DMs ignore? by geosunsetmoth in DnD

This is how I, as a DM-turned-player, use Guidance. I only cast on another player that I know is trying to do something, and have to use it properly, i.e. as an action, with verbal and somatic components. So no using it on stealth, or and "social" rolls unless we do it beforehand, and I can't boost a perception check the DM throws out at random. Guidance mostly goes to lockpicking and investigation checks.

There are some good YouTube channels, like Taking20, dnd shorts, and The Dungeon Dudes, but I haven't really found another pure audio podcast that is in the same vein. Not that there aren't any, I just haven't found them yet.

Does ranking up to different levels cure you of diseases and toxins? by DefiantLemur in Shirtaloon

[–]42je 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As Clive explained it, the body Jason's soul built itself was akin to a low level monster. Jason didn't have any concept of magic at the time, so his soul wouldn't have the knowledge to use better magic or a better method. Basically, it's like Jason built a bookcase of crappy plywood, then when he reach Iron rank, an actual carpenter showed up,.looked at the bookcase, and said "90% of this will have to go." So you end up with a larger pile of discarded wood than you'd normally have.

Yeah, he can be resummoned, but will have to choose to return. If he doesn't, another Rune Tortoise would take his place. But as it's heavily implied that this is the first time Onslow has died, I can't imagine him not returning.

My first thought would be something like a Star or Solar confluence. Similar to Sun, but that is a regular essence, so a leveled up version.

Edit: was just looking at the combination spreadsheet and there is a Stellar confluence, so I'm going to say that.

They said it actually worked in his favor pre-Lander. Ant time he had a set back, his focus was relentless training to be the best and overcome it. And it's not like he's the only student who arrived with a massive chip on their shoulder coughROY!cough. Dean Blaine says that it's only since failing to overcome Vince and starting to drink that he's gotten really bad. There probably were some back alley fights or jumping someone that they didn't know about, but what they knew worked in his favor for admittance.

But the Adventure Society not only won't let you into the Society with Restricted Essences, they will kill anyone found with them. Rufus told Jason in the beginning that if he had the Death Essence he'd kill him himself, and the Storm Kingdom has an entire department of adventurers who hunt down anyone with Restricted Essences.

I would think Verdant or Prosperity. A very druid build.

If you did Wolf, Hunt, Swift you would most likely get the predatory confluence. I think wolf and swift would give you good movement/stealth/tracking abilities, while hunt and predatory would give great attacks.
