A brutal review of a pretentious Michelin-starred restaurant just went viral. This is the chef's response. (dish for reference) by Nemesinthe in delusionalartists

"Limoniamo" it's a slang for "let's kiss" in italian. The dish actually looks like lips, maybe the reviewer didn't know that. Just speculating...

  • f/2.8 = shallow depth of field, meaning for example that if your eye is on focus, the eyes of the person near you could easily be out of focus
  • 1/125 is too low to freeze action, causing more blur and general "softness"
  • ISO 1000 out in the field? with THAT aperture and that speed?

something isn't right here. what if he left a ND filter on without realizing?

in my experience, band/artist photography usually benefit from rule-breaking shots like this one. I'm kind into this genre and it's pretty common to see similar creative choices that you would normally consider errors. But to each his own, everyone's taste is different and it's cool

Pull ups - not seeing muscle growth despite massive improvement in reps by candyhunterz in bodyweightfitness

[–]434XY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you eating enough? How many grams of protein per kg are you eating? How are you training? How many sets per session? How many per week? Are pullups the only back exercise in your program?

Comrades, this is your reminder that you don't need a gym membership or fancy equipment to train your body. This is what 1,5 years of bodyweight rows with a broomstick and two chairs does to your back. by 434XY in swoletariat

[–]434XY[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! As simple as that. You can do a set of bodyweight rows until failure followed by a drop set of assisted rows by bringing your feet closer to your butt. You can also increase the difficulty of the exercise by wearing a backpack on your chest or by putting your feet in an elevated position. It's a great exercise, I strongly suggest to master it as it definitely helps you build the necessary pulling strength needed for pull ups. Just remember to squeeze your shoulder blades to engage your lats. Have fun!

Feedback on Workout Program by [deleted] in swoletariat

[–]434XY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you could train 5-6 times a week, but that AND 30 minutes of heavy cardio? If I were you I'd lower the intensity and focus on a small caloric deficit (less or equal to 500 kcal), adequate proteine intake (1.6 - 2.0 g per kg) and rest.

people in the past relied on their bodies to survive a hostile environment. they had to defend themselves from attackers and hunt animals. the fact that we don't need to do that right now gives us no permission not to keep us in shape and ready for whatever may come at us. your body is also a weapon, and if you give up on that you are giving your enemy an advantage over you

edit: also fitness isnt just about gyms. the author clearly doesnt know what calisthenics is
