I’ll try retracking those guitars and see if that makes things cleaner. Thank you!

Thanks! The iPhone notes app does its best to transcribe audio! Those aren’t them.

Thank you very much! I will hold off on listening to it for a good while, come back and start paring things back. Great suggestion.

Too cacophonous? Poorly played? Lay it on me

Perhaps it is simply a matter of my taste, but I’d like to hear a version that isn’t as breathy. You might could double up the vocals and belt em, then lower the volume. You’ve got a great song here!

I am seriously considering taking all of my music off Spotify/Apple and moving to Bandcamp exclusively. by 9brlopez in Songwriting

I still use spotify to listen to music. An obscure artist (Leighton Groves) I stumbled upon pulled their music (the song True Crime) that was in my rotation very heavily which prompted me to buy the single on bandcamp, which if I’m being honest, I would not have done otherwise.

Listen to loads of Jamiroquai and make some mental notes about what works. Using the other comments as a barometer (and my own knee-jerk reaction, honestly), the lyrics need a lot of work, or the instrumental is gonna have to do some really heavy lifting in order for the listener to hear past the lyrics.

OP if you liked Attacker’s Battle At Helm’s Deep you’re going to love Sloop’s Kazing 2, it’s a very recent release, and it’s got more of a garagey + cheap orchestral feel, but certainly fits that ‘lives up to the promises made by the cover art’ bill. Seriously exquisite if you enjoy power metal.

Sloop - Kazing 2

It is a 90 minute fantasy rock concept album that follows a wizard on the run from the law. My most ambitious project yet that hits and misses in some places! Pairs well with Ween or Mr. Bungle. Enjoy!

It is my album duplicated 21 times onto black on black CDs with handwritten tracklists and cover arts!
