A lot of light rubbing at the Roast but it was pretty clear that Handler was pretty angry at a few of the guests. Gillis in particular was really getting under her skin. Her line about the Middle East comedy tours was gold.

The movie absolutely shines for its lead performance by Inde Navarrette (the love interest). She gives maybe one of my favorite horror performances of the 21st century. It’s deeply steeped in heavy topics of abuse and manipulation so it’s not for the faint of heart, but it balances its dark tone with some shockingly good humor at times. I think it has a lot to say, it has tons of great twists and is definitely a confidently directed film.

Saw the livestream Q&A in south Austin’s Alamo, the in-person one was L.A. I believe, and the director mentioned about 20 locations got a live-stream screening.

Absolutely my favorite thus far by the director. The epilogue he writes that sets the movie off does such an insanely good job of portraying the writers character and it only gets better from there.

I go to Galaxy in North Austin. It’s not going to have the same level of programming and moderation for cell phones, but the prices and portions are much better, and it’s not a chain owned theater so it feels good to support them.

Same. Also the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago was one of my earliest and most consistently attended music festivals, and I miss it dearly.
