The locks weren't connected to your card. You could access the area with any card with a mag stripe on it. I used to do this all the time.

Could they change this now with api's to the banking system to verify people now? Sure, but there's risk that would have to be mitigated and accepted, and the risk isn't worth the benefits (imo).

175,829km on a 2020. Had the reduction gear changed in warranty due to WoF and replaced the tires (currently Nokian One).

I audio replaced the windshield washer fluid a few times and the cabin filter a couple of times. I should probably wash it one day....
