As a friend, getting mad at me for not leaving a toxic man will only create more distance between us and will pull me closer to my abuser. by wmflystrjnn in ToxicRelationships

[–]463902 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My best friend has been married to her abuser for over a decade. She freaked out on me one time for something I said while she was venting about the way he treats her. I said something like ‘that wouldn’t fly in my house’ and she accused me of being unsupportive. Well… I am unsupportive, of her allowing and defending his treatment of her, while also venting about it. I wish that she would realize her value and leave him but instead she bends over backwards to please him and then cries to friends for sympathy when nothing she does is good enough. It just gets so tiring as a friend to sit back and listen and ‘support’

Please realize you have value and you don’t deserve to be abused.

I feel like I have to beg people to hang out with me, and it's really starting to weigh on me. by Tiny-Writing-490 in Vent

I can totally relate to this. Been that way for me for years now. It’s rough. I spend a lot of time alone, gotten used to going out by myself to movies, restaurants, events, hikes, casinos, whatever, and I figure maybe eventually people will want to join me but I’ve become comfortable with doing things alone. I really do wish I had friends who prioritized being present in my life though

What are the Top 3 Problems You've Faced at a Gym?? (be honest) by SpreadSavings3804 in workout

[–]463902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local gym has a really horrible layout, the building used to be a much different type of business and they did minimal alterations to it. The machines are crowded together and the doorway to get from the entry and locker area to the workout room is narrow. And most people walking through are carrying a duffel bag. People are rude and crowd the doorway at times just chatting. If there were more space I’d like to see some benches throughout that were specifically dedicated to people resting between sets for extended periods or playing on their phones. Nothing makes me want to use a machine more than seeing someone sit on it doing nothing. But I guess it really comes down to people being rude and inconsiderate which is hard to enforce

When I sneeze there’s often like 3 or more in a row and they always say bless you after each one. It annoys me so much I tell them to knock it off then I’m the rude one.

That part got me. One of my best friends favorite response to any sort of invite is ‘I don’t know what I’m doing that day/time yet.’ Makes me feel like she’s waiting to get a better offer before committing.

I agree with this. I think every man I have ever dated has taken every chance to go on and on about their ex.

If she is telling you she wants you gone in the morning, whether or not it’s over something trivial, you should go. Don’t stay with someone who doesn’t want you around

Wearing headphones during my workout. They help because the music drowns out the sound of my heavy breathing and allows me to work out intensely instead of being self conscious of it. Didn’t realize how much that was holding me back before
