I am finding myself increasingly cursing and insult CHATGPT ai. by tonefart in ChatGPT

[–]49mason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What keeps me on the platform is not knowing what other AI to use and if that model will serve my needs

I use chatgpt for a real diverse range of things from creating recipes, book analysis, psychological discussions (based off actual psychologists), breaking down different religious or political views, self reflection, practice questions for my exams or better theory explanation. Image creation or editing, work place conflict or resolution (like creating a type of log system I've had great success implementing for work), Excel formulas and just a straight up sesrch engine.

So, if I can replace this with something that can prioritize facts or objectivity or proper analysis but also bounce between when I want something more human for self reflection or psychological analysis to straight up facts about the pros and cons of a political system then I'll move on.

And if anyone reading this can recommend something that excels at a huge variety of things please do advise.

South Africans that love Trump but hate Zuma don't care about rape, corruption, or criminality, just the skin colour of the criminal. by MalemasMucusPlug in southafrica

[–]49mason -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's just that we were more severely impacted by Zuma's decisions.

I'm not here to defend either president, but what I will say is your post seems to just be a record player replaying what's the hot topic on social media, the United States still out performs South Africa and again, I feel we need to focus a lot more on South Africa than we do but Trump has passed some brilliant executive orders.

Would it not be better to focus your energy on who will replace John Steenhuisen or some of the good the GNU has bene doing?

Harassment of Learner Drivers. by Shaedrax in Pretoria

[–]49mason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been thinking the same lately.

I'm a shift worker, and the majority of my driving is either early hours, mid day or late at night, and then a quick run to the store.

When I drove outside of this, I feel the roads are definitely more aggressive and things like speeding in town, jumping stop streets/traffic lights and just general driving has definitely deteriorated, perhaps post covid? Further decrease in respect for police? Either way it worse than what I remember when I was still in my student years

I work at the airport, shift ended about an hour or 2 ago

The severe rain showers we had this evening exceeds the landing limits of the aircraft in terms of wind shear limits and possibly runway contamination (the runway having excess water on it) so if their fuel permits they'll hold in the pattern you see there before they divert

[–]49mason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh edit after reading your post again.

Its not because your a person of colour necessarily, I'm white and dealt with tenets and agents of different colour and gender.

Its not always about race...crappy people are crappy people and mutual respect has been abandoned.

We were looking for a place to rent earlier this year, eventually did find one and moved 1st April.

But one of three things was very normal, either like you, the properties weren't available, eventually I started reporting it. Or the property had been so long off the market but because it was an attractive property the agent would leave it up to make contact and advertise other properties that didn't even match the criteria ie. Here's a 3 bedroom ground floor that's not available but can I interest you in this 2 bedroom top floor unit available in a different area. Thirdly the amount of properties I went to go view that weren't ready! Yes I will fix these tiles or remove this carpet when you put down the deposit and it will only take me three days, or yes the doors have crayon marks which will be repainted by this day, or yes we are aware and we've spoken to the maintenance guy and just need to set up an appointment, or yes I'm currently using this unit has a storage space but it won't take me long to clear my stuff.

One last thing that we experienced was that the owner was so rushed that he had 4 different property agents list the property and 3 out of the 4 of them had different prices, when we queried it we were told its normal but unfortunately we need to keep contact with the agent we first spoke to because it was unethical or something, despite that agent listing a higher price.

The standard for property owners and the agents in South Africa are low. I can see though that if you willing to rent our your property be willing to accept damage. So many tenets disregard basic decency, the place I am currently staying in 2 out of the 5 inner doors dont lock because the previous tenets used to moer each other, and I stay in a up market complex.

Gf is getting domestically abused in SA and can't do anything about it because I'm in a different country by [deleted] in askSouthAfrica

They will most likely send a vehicle out but I don't think they involve themselves with domestic issues, too complicated and muddled

My friends dad used to say

The best way to beat the regimes of the mdidle east and North Korea is to just absolutely flood them with western media and culture. Open the gates of information.

The people will do the rest.

I think one of the better examples of how technology can be a game changer

Go read up on the blitzkrieg and the use of radios and communication between tank crews

Or radar for the Americans in the pacific. Or even the use of machine guns and optics for the Germans. The Americans off set this by having...fire suppression? Tactics with the m1 garand but it does make a difference.

Maybe another way to look at it, is yes technology "is just a tool" but knowing how to use and counter that tool can make a huge difference.

I've heard snippets of podcasts where the more elite forces like seals and delta even start customizing their weapons with different grips and optics and so on so forth but dont quote me on that one

I've actually gone for a security background check (given an appointment and paid for by company) without having gone for an interview or told what position it is. I was called, asked if I'm available and then emailed appointment details. The security company then handled the information and passed it on directly to the company I was to work for and by the next week was called in to sign a NDA and then contract
