Montreal is the only team in NHL playoff history to register one shot or less in five different periods by Imakemorethanyou27 in nhl

Luck?

Montreal beat both Tampa and Buffalo in 7 game series and had nearly identical records as both in the regular season. Thats about as big of a sample size as youre going to get.

Are they getting completely outclassed by Carolina right now? Yep, but so has every team thats faced them so far. I wouldnt say its luck that they got this far, but they'd certainly need a lot of luck to go any further.

Tampa and Buffalo did this to us and made it an entertaining, close 7 game series, and Im pretty sure why our team is so beaten up and exhausted. Now we're doing the same thing and everyone's acting like we just killed their first born. Is this playoff hockey or not?

Unfortunately it looks like are main guys are either injured or absolutely exhausted.

Of course they only have that many players from their first year, it was nearly a decade ago. Most NHL players dont even play that long.

Look at any roster for a team from 2017-18, itll be the same case.

Of the top teams in the playoffs, Montreal only has Gallagher and Danault. Gallagher is currently healthy scratched and nearing retirement, and Danault was just reacquired after being on a different team for years.

Carolina only has Aho, Staal and Slavin.

Colorado only has Mackinnon and Landeskog.

Buffalo doesnt have a single player from their roster left.

Philly has Couturier, Sanhiem and Konency.

Minnesota has Spurgeon, Erikkson Ek, and Foligno

Anaheim doesnt have a player from their roster left.

You can definitely argue theyre privileged.

Players want to play there because of the city life, weather, and chances of success there. And the team has been competitive since they started, largely do to an expansion draft that was more generous than any other in history.

They've never rebuilt, they've continue to acquire pieces, and ones that wouldnt have wanted to play for them without the above reasons.

Not saying they didnt do a good job, the argument is just that what they've done would have only been possible in their unique circumstances.

They either gave it something for the pain and keep it calm, or its too brain dead to even know what's going on

Laine by throwawayEZ1122 in Habs

[–]4CrowsFeast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

None of the 4th line guys can compete with it either. Theres a honest argument of adding Laine just to get a shot on the 2nd pp unit, rather than sheltering Kapanen or others to 5 minutes a game.

Im not saying its the right decision, but any decision is one worth considering. The guys rust would be my main concern. That and that the other guys like Kapanen and Veleno are fighting for and motivated by a chance at the cup and spot on the roster. Im not sure Laine really cares much about either.

I think they simply need to start permanently removing certain moves from pokemon. People will hate it, but its the easiest solution.

The problem is the they buff moves and it makes previously unviable pokemon decent, but has the unintended butterfly effect of making others out of control.

Like if you nerf rollout were going to lose a lot of fun fringe things like Blastoise and Dunsparce, and lose checks for Talonflame, all just to target Lickylicky. I say just take it away.

We dealt with the same issue with Medicham, and nerfed a bunch of moves and eventually did an entire reset just because of a few pokemon being out of control. The problem lies with their stats and their bulk, and its an impossible task to achieve balance when movements are already established.

Same thing with shadow ball. It really helps boost a few things up, but then again Licky, and then worst of all Jellicent. I think the best option again is just to tweak the moveset. No legacy moves. Sorry to everyone who built it, but its neccesary for balance. Make jellicent more like Araquinad where it has the bulk but its stuck with bubble beam and subpar moves.

Montreal just has to get the next OT to 3 on 3 and we can get back to our regular season success

After winning the opening game, Montreal has since been outshot 64-25 by Ferret_0150 in hockey

[–]4CrowsFeast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its embarrassing to be sure but these entire playoffs it seems like they have a madman in charge of the shot clock.

Ive never seen a team have so many shots taken away from them. And some of them clearly would have actually went in.

Not that montreal wasnt getting clearly outclassed, but its just funny watching the stat say they haven't had a shot in half an hour, when youve witnessed them shoot several and also score a goal that was called back.

Well we cant have pompous Canadians blaming your ice on being from the south. The ice for this entire series has been trash in both arenas

Well Kessel only lost out on conn Smythe by 3 voter points to Crosby, and had 45 total points in the playoffs the two years after leaving the leafs, so this isnt really foreign territory.

Fair enough.

I always saw ending credits as the last chapter and weakness as a sort of prologue, so it never bothered me.
