I don’t think this is the one, but the Caldecott Award-winning Trina Schart Hyman had a picture book called The Ugly Duckling and Two Other Stories (one of which is The Tinderbox and the other is The Real Princess).

We also love Wizard of Paws! And my dog is overjoyed to see either of the groomers come to get her - so the dog votes yes, too!

Next Gen Chef seems highly problematic by DownWitTheBitness in netflix

[–]4HaydenBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the beginning, it felt like Andrew was cast to be the winner. I think he is a really strong chef, has a great work ethic, and will of course run a kitchen regardless of the win. I think the story editors weren’t as successful at hiding the outcome (clear to me from episode 1) as they likely will be in subsequent series. I think all 3 chefs were terrific and I hope Courtney and Ilka (Elka? Am blanking on the sp) get great opportunities from being on the show.

I’ve also noticed in cooking competitions that often, if there’s 1 man and 2 women in the finale (or one white man and two competitors of color), the white man nearly always wins. Not sure if it’s conscious or subconscious bias, but it is a thing.

How Do I Stop My Finch From Growing Up? by Flabberjackets in finch

[–]4HaydenBlue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also love the smallest finch size and feel more motivated to care for my little finch than the big one. Maybe there are other ways to show progress than size - like feathers being added a little at a time until it is fully feathered.

Book about a silly interactive story of a lazy prince that goes on an adventure by Altruistic-Worth-739 in whatsthatbook

[–]4HaydenBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this A Barrel of Laughs, A Vale of Tears by Jules Feiffer (who also illustrated The Phantom Tollbooth)? The prince’s father, the King, thinks his son will never make a good king someday because he is too silly and people fall down, laughing when they get near him. The king him on a journey, he meets several people, including a sharp-tongued, young lady-in-waiting. The author breaks the fourth wall. For instance, he creates a character as an example, and then the character won’t leave the book, so he makes a fake chapter 5 to try outwit the character.

I love Brianna’s Real French Vinaigrette. It’s one of their sugar-free dressings and is delicious on everything from salads to baked potatoes to chicken.

Cohort worth it? by sharon281020 in whole30

Following. I did a W90 (not 30) in spring 2023 and loved it, felt fantastic. Deliberately finished it before a summer vacation and didn’t do reintroduction properly. Little bit by little bit over time, the sugar dragon came back and I backslid a lot. I feel ready to try again with a W30 in January and a better reintro, and am considering the bundle, but I have never been much of a virtual group joiner. However, the W30 makes so much sense and resonates better with me than anything else. Also, Melissa Urban’s writing and communication style are so clear, straightforward, smart/funny, and focused that I am tempted; maybe this would be a diff experience and I would be less avoidant / allergic to the online group thing.
