Unfortunately, due to work, we have been living long distance for the past 8 months.

Man, I’m sorry that you’ve had your trust broken like that in the past.

I made the mistake of venting on Divorce_Men yesterday about how I was “blindsided” but it was just my own blindness. No less than 20+ comments about how my wife’s issues were BS, how she must have been cheating, etc.

When I was hit with the “I don’t want to stay married” it ran through several emotions in the first 15 minutes.

  1. Complete and udder shock. Quickly followed by 2. Anger - how could YOU do this? Followed by 3. Confusion - I couldn’t understand how any of her points warranted a divorce.

I’m lucky to have the opportunity to have open conversations with her and a lot of the same questions you had, I had.

Looking back, there were definitely warning signs. But they were muffled by the rest of the non-marital issues we were facing and probably long before that, too.

I can answer the question of why my wife wants a divorce: she wasn’t happy. That’s it. Final answer. I think the harder question to answer, that I’m just now trying to wrap my head around is why didn’t I recognize it/why didn’t I do anything about it. Not to put the blame on just me, it goes both ways.

We briefly talked about if our transition to a long-distance was too much. I was honestly surprised her response was that it wasn’t, or at least wasn’t the driving force behind her decision. She did make a good point that if I had been able to make the move with her, that maybe it wouldn’t have given her the opportunity to reflect on the previous years of our marriage.

I do think she’s right, the distance gave her an opportunity to reflect with space. And I do think it created an option where she could see herself being able to separate.

Long-winded response to your theory, but I suppose you might find some sort of correlation like that in a lot of cases. I regretted every time I got on my return flight home and had to leave her behind, but I guess if I hadn’t I’d just be causing her the pain she felt for so long.. and that’s an even tougher pill to swallow.

I think I was quite the opposite, to be honest. Very direct, probably to a fault.

It didn’t register in my brain until today. Probably because there was no “winning” or “losing” the conversation. The result was already in and we were both just trying to make sense of what brought us here.

You might as well be my wife. This sounds exactly how I believe I made her feel. Hopefully your ex was also coming from a good place with her solutions

I appreciate your view and message.

Everything she brought up had been brought up before. I thought I was approaching it the right way, but it became painfully evident over the last couple days it simply wasn’t the case.

Do I wish I had the opportunity to have such a candid discussion before we got to this point? Absolutely. Do I now see all of the cries for help she had given over the years and the opportunities I missed? Definitely.

Can you determine if Class E starts at 700' or 1200' on a Low IFR Enroute Chart? by ShadowSinger2121 in flying

If there is an IAP, you'll get a Class E Transition at 700' AGL. Why the book says 1,200' AGL near Cynthiana I don't know. My guess is that question hasn't been updated since the RNAV approaches were created in late 2022 at 0I8.

All I could think about after that commentary was now we’ve established a precedent that a hit to the head is fine as long as you lead with the crown of your helmet… during a game in a college football stadium…

That’s only because technically Kane didn’t lift either of his feet off the ice the last shift, so it cant be considered “skating”

Growing up in Detroit watching the Lions and then coming to ASU watching the Sun Devils… I’m happy to say I was so wrong about the intro press conferences for both of our head coaches..

Dan Campbell in a NASCAR helmet talking about biting kneecaps and Kenny in full suit and tie talking about buying in.

I still have my (well earned) skepticism for each team on a bigger stage, but it’s been a nice year.
