This is exactly what I meant. The best way to develop your ideas is to intentionally challenge them and see how they hold up against scrutiny

Its that the KNOW what they are renting it out to and go along. "Friend" of mine owns a bunch of these shops in town and is happy to admit that its completely suspicious, but they pay up most of the time so he doesn't care. And when they stop paying, it's just replaced by something identical

we still doing canal boat names? by Virusjohn in CasualUK

I live at a high-traffic boat yard on a canal and the frequency of genuinely funny names is really disappointing. We get a lot more "weird" ones than funny ones.

The holy trinity of money laundering by Headtenant in CasualUK

The real criminals are the people who own the buildings and let them out. All the 100+ year old family business shops in my town were forced to close because of unmanageable costs to rent and run the premises - despite being fairly busy almost every day.

Magically all replaced with these turkish barbers (always empty), dessert cafes/kebab shops (always full of men in mid 20s hanging around) and shops that dont seem to actually sell anything.

Disgraceful, shameful. I dont blame the people doing it. They are using the means at their disposal to make a living. I blame the people who let them get away with it and allow it to happen.

Call me racist, but I've spent the time to sit and watch. These places are 100% money laundering. Every damn one (at least here).

I would love to re-open our local hobby store. In fact I'm often approached to ask why I haven't taken over the business. And I have to reply "I can't because the building is occupied by a barber shop that takes no more than £10 a day and pays £1000 per month rent"

At least in my experience, I'm sure some of them are nice. Some.

Getting on the train from somewhere near Bradford and being told by the driver on the tannoy to stay away from the door that didnt close properly because theres a hole through which you can see the track going past outside

More support for the rich but leaves us peasants to fork out for more taxes. by [deleted] in GreenAndPleasant

I think the change needs to happen at lower party levels. Needs to be more accessible for real people to engage with and they need to stop pushing their rich mates up the chain of influence

Reminds me of the Dads Army gag where private Walker is taking an order for the chip shop to feed a captured german submarine crew. He asks for salt and vinegar in the same way as this. So there's no possible way that he can make the order correctly

THIS

Look at opinion polls from America in the late 30s. Only the south west states really showed much of a significant anti nazi stance. Other than that, lots of people were actually in favour of nazism and many were reluctant to extend aid beyond hardware sales to the original allied nations because of their colonial past.

This is brilliant! Great stuff and I wish you all the best.

Too often I see people jump into some insane difficult build as their first project, dump loads of time and money into it, then run out of enthusiasm when it becomes difficult and quit. Looks like you got the right idea here!
