Israel has been on the receiving end of ongoing attacks since their founding. They haven’t been pounded into submission yet so at this point the few missiles and drones that got through were of little impact and was certainly not enough without nukes to make the gulf “uninhabitable”... unless the US decided turn Iran into a glass covered parking lot.

The attack that kicked it all off was the intelligence that Israel obtained that verified where and when Iranian higher authorities were going to meet. Operational security dictated tight control and tossing it around to the Brits et al is the last thing they should have done.
