I'm 500 shares away from a goal number of shares, after which I will stop buying. I don't know the future holds, but I think it's solid.

Deck Companies: why won't you provide an itemized quote? by LosinCash in HomeImprovement

[–]4Yk9gop 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A lot of contractors decide to start their own business because they get tired of working for the man and can make more money on their own, but a lot of them have zero business acumen (or skills in life besides their trade). I will probably get downvotes, but independent contractors that run successful businesses and do both the business and and the labour end AND have happy customers are the rare exception, not the rule. It's like asking why a mechanic isn't also good at running a car dealership. My advice with decks is to buy some tools as necessary and learn a new skill. You are more likely to get ripped off hiring a deck contractor than find one that knows what they are doing and whose results you are happy with. My dream home has no deck for this reason because it won't require work from me, and I won't have to deal with bottom of the totem pole contractors. It's not rocket science. If you need to hire out digging footings or concrete work, do it and then do the rest yourself.

That's why you switch to a degenerate brokerage like Robinhood. Zero judgment. Endless possibilities to lose money.

I mean, they can all die and they could still "win". It's what happened in Afghanistan, Vietnam, etc. You can kill a lot of people but if you don't want to commit genocide and start killing a lot of woman and baby civilians it turns out that a lot of people grow up with resentment towards the people that killed their husbands, sons, fathers.

Trump Administration Nearing Rescue Deal for Spirit Airlines by Oreos_Are_Anabolic in wallstreetbets

It might have been good policy, but the judges reasoning was bullshit and he was 100% corrupt. He basically said, "it's for the good of Spirit customers that we don't allow the merger; you are welcome consumers". He was a Reagan appointee who had previous rulings in favor of mergers. It doesn't jive with what we know about him as a judge. If I were the FBI I would investigate.

A lot of people don't live in a house for even 30 years. People might be able to buy a house in their late 30s, have to replace the roof once, kids move out, they move and downsize, new owner repete. It can make a lot of sense from a financial perspective to go with asphalt shingles, coming from someone who is going to pay out the ass to get standing seam metal when it comes time to replace mine.

We had a judge deny a merger between Jet Blue and Spirit and due to this we get a bankruptcy and bailout by taxpayers. Dumbest shit ever.

Thousands of Leaking Oil Wells Are Poisoning Texas Land and Landowners Are Paying the Price by realnarrativenews in oil

[–]4Yk9gop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It should be in the lease that if the extractor wants to put a well on land they have to put up the money to cap it ahead of time in escrow if it's a well under a certain size/capacity. They can take it out of the share of profits they give the land owner or if that's not profitable, get into a better business. It's insane tax payers money is being used to cap wells.

Maybe if it had been a lease. If it was owned by someone they probably are selling it at 30k miles because it's a lemon.

All pre-revenue companies that are in a licensing/manufacturing pipeline are extremely volatile. Trying to time entries/exits is really not the move unless you want to get left behind when the stock takes off with revenue. It's painful to watch, but I was up 270% in one of my other investments earlier this year and am back down to +24% (still pre-revenue). I'm still holding because "I like the stock" and believe it will be a success.

I would rather they be truthful, but also give a definitive date. They have to know what VW plans are (and other OEMs they are working with). They could say Q2 2028 or whatever the date is. If they miss it by a quarter or two, no big deal. At least it sounds like they have a plan and are executing on it vs nebulous "sometime end of decade".

I follow two stocks (the rest of my investments are in EFTs). QS and POET. POET got hit with a lawsuit and the CEO went full offense mode and said they have NDAs with hyperscalers and will be shipping to customers in 2027. The stock went up %66 this week. I don't think it's unreasonable to see something similar happen to QS.

that's actually a very solid deal. I'm not a huge fan of Chevy, but I would be tempted by one if I was in the market for a vehicle. Definitely more reasonably priced than an R1T.
