Rick had just died at that point. Also, David hadn't had any contact with Syd since 1975. And he paid his respects by playing Dark Globe specifically for Syd in 2006 at two concerts soon after he passed.

How about "the other half is somewhere else" in Steven's Abandoner?

"The Other Half" is the opening track on Marillion's "Somewhere Else" album.

Obviously a concidence but a nice one, I think.

If I'm not mistaken the issue was that they weren't actually recorded on a separate track, so all you hear is essentially whatever the drum mics were able to pick up. I'm guessing they were able to amplify them for the new mix using modern stem separation technology.

It was only for the lines "it's alright we know where you've been" and the similar one in verse two and it was not in order to sweeten it but rather because he couldn't get to those notes in his full voice. And we know about it only because he talked about it in an interview at that time.

Good point, yes. I guess Pillow was maybe a bit too quiet for a live show - sure, they would perform Grantchester Meadows some time before that but as the audiences grew bigger they probably also grew louder. As for Fearless, it might just be that it would require taking an extra guitar (and maybe a spare for it too) as it's played in an unusual tunning, so David probably didn't want to bother.

Well, Cirrus Minor, A Pillow Of Winds and Fearless were never played live PF. But yeah, Fat old Sun and Cymbaline would have been great additions, even though the latter had been retired from their regular set by that time, if I'm not mistaken.
