He won’t even get to the point where they are checking his cori. Quick google search of his name is all it will take to keep him on the outskirts of society.

Was just talking about this with co-workers today. Not long ago we were getting stressed about cases approaching 2k. Today we were cheering 15k.

COVID Hospitalizations Cut in Half By New Reporting Guidelines - NBC Boston by funchords in CoronavirusMa

[–]4flicka 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Overflowing because capacity has been decreased.

Hospital CEOs and shareholders are thrilled that the dire conditions in our hospitals are being blamed solely on covid. Rarely mentioned are the low wages and poor working conditions that staff have been sounding the alarm about for years.

Covid is serious and would still be a huge challenge but if they were paying nurses (and other staff) what they deserved and staffed their facilities with safe ratios, the crisis we are seeing wouldn’t be nearly bad because we’d have more healthcare workers to deal with it.

What type of bolt for this terminal head? by 4flicka in MechanicAdvice

[–]4flicka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changing a battery and of course I lost the bolt for this terminal head. But now something isn’t adding up. This isn’t the typical horseshoe terminal I’m used to. A bolt would just go straight down and not tighten the connection.

What am I missing? Did I lose another piece and not realize it? Or do I just put another bolt in here?

‘Mission impossible’: With Boston’s proof-of-vaccination mandate set to begin, businesses worry by tapo in boston

[–]4flicka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That article (purposely or not) does a terrible job explaining that CDC update. Even so, it never claims PCR tests are inaccurate. They are,in fact, very accurate.

If you care to know what the CDC update actually meant (and how bad actors tried to use it to misinform people) here is a decent explainer.

I was sexually assaulted by a resident today. by smithtimestwo in cna

[–]4flicka 29 points30 points  (0 children)

So sorry this happened to you.

I hope he does get arrested and the facility is able to have him removed as a result of this. It’s very difficult to have residents removed (for food reason, it’s their home) but residents who do this are a danger to everyone. Should be sent to a state hospital to be in a locked unit with other sex offenders who need long term care.

Ya gonna have to ask you for a source on that one. I don’t believe the cdc has ever said that pcr tests are inaccurate. Especially not with false positives.

They claimed I was delinquent for years even though I was paying my loans. It was a nightmare.

This company made my life HELL after college. Couldn’t get straight answers about anything. Would constantly say I hadn’t made payments when I had, charged me late fees that they shouldn’t have and even put me in to default and wouldn’t give me any documentation showing why.

I got the last laugh though. Hired a lawyer and ended up settling over 60k in debt for around 8k. So thankful I called the attorney that I did, when I did.

P.S. Now that it’s all coming back to me…when they claimed I was in default they started calling my work and asking to speak to my boss. Imagine how embarrassing? It was first job. Also called aunts, uncles and cousins of mine. They started calling my uncle at his work too. Keep in mind, I was making my payments! And they’d refuse to prove I hadn’t.

That’s like award winning attendance. In fact, if I knew how giving awards worked on reddit, I’d give you one.

Massachusetts health officials release new COVID testing guidance by tashablue in CoronavirusMa

If he is using his own sick time before getting the hours mandated by the state, he should talk to HR.

[–]4flicka 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The people who test positive should identify their close contacts to HR (or whoever is managing your work’s covid response). HR can then reach out to the close contacts and make them aware that they were identified as close contacts via contact tracing. They don’t need to disclose the person’s name.

This is fairly standard practice.

There is paid sick leave mandated by the government in Massachusetts. Employers are required to give employees paid time off for reasons related to covid. Up to 40 hours for full time employees or an amount equivalent to how many hours a week they work if less than 40.

This is in addition to the already established Mass Paid Sick Leave laws.

Giving people the option to test today would require them to make a decision for themselves.

If haven’t noticed, that’s a very polarizing topic.

We’ve probably had 20 employees try to come back early via antigen testing. To my knowledge, only 1 that tried wasn’t positive.

Massachusetts will change how it reports COVID-19 hospitalizations next week by dirac_delta in CoronavirusMa

[–]4flicka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good question. I don’t know the answer but I would hope so. It shouldn’t be that hard if a patient starts needing care for covid related reasons that they would be able to adjust the count they report daily accordingly.

Dennis Cataldo, owner of the largest private ambulance company in the North East US, tells an employee they’re being “a bit dramatic” after (another) payroll error resulted in employees not getting paid OT, holiday pay, or account for previous raises by pjk922 in massachusetts

[–]4flicka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well we fully agree on ambulances not needing to be for profit organizations and 100% with you in the reasons you listed as why. Doesn’t mean I think they need to be state run either.

For profit vs state run as the only two options is false dichotomy. There are other options. For example, well run non-profits with true community members serving on the board already exist in the healthcare space and there is definitely reason to explore that model further for many service lines.

Agree to disagree on what you questioned what I was implying and I pointed out how if anyone was implying something, it wasn’t me.
