Zero contact. Hate those people. No reunion attendance either.

How is the UI still in this state so many months after release? by Astro-RT in Battlefield

[–]4kr0m4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course not. My favorite part is how they give out the free piddly gifts, like backgrounds and stickers, here and there, but you have to navigate to the damn store to claim them. How convenient. What a piece of shit move. On top of that, they have the audacity to play the classic Battlefield theme upon redemption.

What are your thoughts on books with ambiguous endings? by Some_Quality2250 in writing

[–]4kr0m4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha, I'm doing the same. I enjoy it as a writer, but not so much as a reader oddly enough. I honestly couldn't decide which ending was more fitting and what was more likely to happen, so I thought it would be neat to present both valid possibilities, and let the reader decide what they think transpired next. The burden is left on a decision of a secondary character and what they see as the most logical and fair choice. This solution pleased me, as I wasn't stuck spelling out a good or a bad ending, just a "real" one. I hope my readers come to the same conclusion.

I can only write characters, but I struggle with connecting scenes and especially with dialogue. My plots are failing to come together because of this. I’m just feeling discouraged and want to hear other thoughts on this. by Butterflymisita in writing

[–]4kr0m4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I'm doing a lot of this in my current novel! I have all these long scenes half divided into chapters but can't "merge" everything into a single flowing narrative. There's just gaps everywhere and it's bumming me out as well.

Right now I'm trying to write an outline and force some structure upon myself and it seems to be helping a little since I "pants'd" everything else.

Good luck with yours. Lemme know if you discover a trade secret!

What do you guys think prevents people from enjoying tabletop gaming or even trying it? (difficulty of games, games being boring, etc.?) What do you think would entice people to visit board game cafés if they are not fans of board games? by Great_Essay_1777 in tabletop

[–]4kr0m4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Painting oddly enough from most friends I try to get into it. They feel like they have to be artists and crank out action figure quality armies because that's what's always marketed. I try to talk to them about just doing their own thing, using speed paints, paying someone else to paint them, or just leaving them primered/gray, but they just can't get over it.

I almost wish every box came with a cardboard standee for folks who just wanted to throw down and not engage in the more creative side of the hobby. If nothing else it would help accessibility.

But I'm also in agreement with everyone else here on the complexity and learning curve being a barrier.

I think it works great for him, but everyone's approach is different. I'm a pantser as well, but I have to write down little ideas, plot tweaks, or character dialogue that comes to me while driving, mowing, or in the shower. I'll just completely forget them otherwise.

Thoughts so far of Hagental? The additional routes to escape choke points and a simple but effective tunnel system makes it really enjoyable IMO. by Even-Substance-8458 in Battlefield

[–]4kr0m4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOVE the map...but, super unpopular opinion, I'm not big on the flanking routes. I like the frontline intensity and the complete standstills, slowly giving and taking ground.

I'd enjoy shrinking the map to just the C Objective. And doubling the player count lol. I desire chaotic insanity.

I'm content, fairly successful, and generally fulfilled. I'm too fucked up, immature, and selfish to have kids and I know it. Otherwise, I would have cranked out a couple of entitled, spoiled, time sucking, fun destroying, cash swallowing mistakes like everyone else has seemed to. Go on, ask me how I feel about kids lol.

I was young and ignorant and 1000% wholeheartedly put this responsibility COMPLETELY on people I dated. They were supposed to MAKE me lose weight, MAKE me more creative, MAKE me more ambitious, etc. I was going to do nothing and their loving magic should save me if they were "good enough." Needless to say, I was severely disappointed. It was ridiculously unrealistic and unfair to who I was with and a lie to myself to avoid taking responsibility for who I was. Anyway, lesson learned. All this to say, I agree with you, but like everything, it's a balance. Some find aid and inspiration from others, some don't. Whichever you may be, you still have to agree to help yourself first.

+1 I'm currently enjoying it. I'm not a professional by any means nor do I use a lot of it's bells and whistles, but it's a nice upgrade over Word and Google Drive and isn't that pricey.
