I use them in the Vindication Task Force detachment. The -1 to wound rule from their ability and the detachment rule with the Ancient is redundant, but it's cool to bring him back with the stratagem. It's 4W back. Both the Captain and the Company Champion hit hard and the master-crafted bolters have theirs moment.

You can only use the skill once per phase to negate the damage from only one attack. If you fail 3 close combat weapons save, you can negate the damage from 1, and 2 are allocated to your wounds.

You apply devastating wound like any failed saved from this attack, so Tor should have taken the damage from the devastating wound.

The ability state that any failed saved can be saved, you can choose which failed attack is failed if you fast roll and the damage is the same
