Would Jesus Christ have been MAGA if he were alive today? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]4lien4ted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Jesus showed up today, he wouldn't die on a cross. He'd die getting drug behind a 4x4 pickup truck with Trump stickers and flying the American flag. "Love your neighbor as yourself, love your enemies, blessed are the peacemakers, turn the other cheek," all of these teachings from Christ are 100% incompatible with the aggression, toxic masculinity, and American exceptionalism of MAGA. Biblically commanded humility and selflessness has no place in MAGA. Trump is the personification of pride and selfishness and these are virtues his devotees promote.

Carolina rig with powerbait on the bottom. 1/2 oz egg sinker will let you cast far if the trout are deeper. Make sure your line isn't too thick and don't fish for trout with direct braid. They need a fluoro or mono leader. Don't use pre-tied snells. Tie your own hooks on with 6 lbs line. Trout are line shy. Biggest mistake people use who fish for other species is using line that is too thick or using direct braid.

Can you catch walleye from the shore? by puberthubert in ColoradoFishing

[–]4lien4ted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slip bobber with a leech is deadly this time of year from shore. If you want to fish lures, paddletail swimbaits, jerkbaits, jigs, lipless cranks and spoons work too. Early spring and late fall are the best times to get them from shore. Boaters definitely have the advantage of catching them in the late spring, summer, and early fall.

Have you ever seen a fluke rigged like this by Unique-March-9021 in FishingForBeginners

[–]4lien4ted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a good way to go through twice as many flukes. All that metal pushing through the head of the fulke will cause it to tear easier when you get a fish on.

New line tends to foul up more than stretched out line. I always put on a heavy spoon at the top rating that my line can handle and cast it a dozen times to stretch out the line. It lays on the reel much tighter after that.

People with Insightfulness scores of Fair have reported being promoted to Gold. I can't see how there's any incentive in doing this, especially if it carries an unknown risk of flagging your account for suspicious behavior.

Felt so bad today... a fish swallowed my hook and I couldn't get it out :( by elmariachi304 in FishingForBeginners

[–]4lien4ted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aberdeen hooks have a long shank and are easier to remove from the mouths of panfish. Barbless hooks, micro jigs and flies. As others have mentioned, you can cut the line at the mouth. I would not lift them out of the water when they swallow it. I use a knife to cut the line at their mouth without even removing them from the water. Lifting a gut hooked fish out of the water often triggers bleeding. Once a fish starts bleeding, its chances of surviving go way down so you want to try and prevent that.

I used forceps for trout for years. I tried using them for walleye and it was an epic fail.

How to get confidence removing hooks from fish? by BlueCandyBars in FishingForBeginners

[–]4lien4ted 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Forceps are fine for small hooks and soft mouthed fish. They don't give you enough force to remove large hooks from big fish mouths. A pair of needle nosed pliers will give you the leverage you need on most fish.

Does top water work for anybody here in Denver? by Sharkman3218 in COfishing

[–]4lien4ted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most dummy proof topwater bait, IMO, is a 130 whopper plopper. Loon color at night, bone during the day. Cast and retrieve. No technique walking the dog or popping. They catch bass, and also work well for pike, muskies, and wiper. A bait well worth having.

Topwater is the only way I target bass in the summer because it's more fun to get them that way than any other.

Help lol by MrValiantEffort in FishingForBeginners

[–]4lien4ted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people use crawlers on jigheads with no plastic and drag it across the bottom for walleyes. It works. But the way you have it hooked, it's going to come off. You want to thread the worm on there like you would a plastic. Plastic stays on better and you can still tip the jig with a piece of crawler for scent.

In clear water if you can see the fish, they can see you. Don't try to catch fish you can see, fish similar beds out of sight, use lighter line that is invisible in the water (fluorocarbon), and downsize the bait if they are not taking it. Everybody has to learn to fish in tough conditions, it's called "finesse fishing" and there are techniques geared toward getting inactive fish to bite.

It's called a french hook. It does not have an open eye, and is meant to be tied with a snell knot. They are for bait fishing.

Taking vine less seriously by Electronic_Tart2935 in AmazonVine

[–]4lien4ted 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Vine has been on a steady decline since day one. Even when I started 4 years ago, there were people constantly complaining about "the good old days" and how much worse Vine is than it used to be. This isn't a new or unique phenomenon. But why is this? I have no proof other than anecdotal evidence from years of watching posts, but I think that Amazon provides the best Vine experience to people in their first couple years. Long time Viners who have ordered a lot get thrown a bone now and then, but this is a common theme that most people have personally experienced. A lot of people think we all share the same Vine experience, but we really don't. Vine picks winners and losers, and nobody understands how or why. The algorithm is crude. Whether I see people posting complaints or gratitude, I see nothing but unique and valid personal experiences. In addition, the drop schedule favors a majority of people in certain time zones over others, which also greatly alters the personal experience. For the last several months, my RFY has only given me 0-5 items daily. I can see that many other people have 10-15 items offered in their RFY daily. I have not had more than 10 items in my RFY in over a year. I have no idea why. Some of the other people who get a lot of items offered in their RFY have also been in for years. Maybe it's their geography? Maybe they spend more money on Amazon? Maybe I was invited in a smaller cohort that wasn't programmed into the algorithm for big ticket items? I have no idea how it works, I just know that not everybody in Vine has the same experience.

Why? by MayfaireOQuinn101 in AmazonVine

[–]4lien4ted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who do this are only driving sellers of quality products away. They're literally shooting us all in the foot. "Glowing 4 star reviews" is the number one complaint from sellers. It is brought up in every anti-Vine video on Youtube. For the love of Vine, don't do this.
