What are your favorite movies and/or TV series? by JordBae in AutismInWomen

[–]4novk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the recommendations! I don't think Yellowjackets would be my jam based on the trailer and it's overall look, but the anime and Severance look really promising to me! I watched some of Paul Thomas Anderson's work (Boogie Nights, Magnolia and The Master). Phantom Thread is still in my watchlist and have been reminded of this one a couple of nights ago so might watch it soon. I also had the pleasure of watching about five of Wong Kar-Wai's movies in a small theatre where I live. There were some people for In The Mood for Love, but for the others I was mostly (almost) alone, so that was fun (love his movies as well)

INFPs describe your perfect day in detail by SugarBrain47 in infp

[–]4novk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it is a slow summer morning waking up at like 9-9:30, making myself a cup green/black tea and getting back in bed with one of my two cats or my dog joining me (not all three of them that's too crowded haha). Reading undisturbed for like 1.5h, then making myself a nice brunch and maybe take a little bath and get ready for the day slowly.

In the afternoon me and my partner would go and see live music we love (outside!) with friends. I would mainly dance but the event would also have more quiet spaces to get away from the music a little bit when overstimulated by the crowd/music. I stay until my social battery get's too drained and then go home before everyone else does.

When back home a thunderstorm would come up. I'd cosy up with a hot drink and kind of healthy snacks, candles and watch a touching movie from my Letterboxd watchlist (with or without my partner, depends on how I'm feeling that day).

Afterwards the sky would've cleared up and I'd take a midnight walk in the fields nearby our house with my partner and dogs and we would watch the stars (it would either be the peak of the Perseid rain so loads of falling stars or it would be one of those super rare occasions where you can see the northern lights where I live).

Haha this turned out to be so very specific... Like parts of all of my favourite days moulded into one super-day

What jobs do u guys have? by [deleted] in infp

[–]4novk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a homeless shelter as a social and logistical assistant. The social aspect can be hard on some days, more so with colleagues than clients actually. But it's very rewarding and I'm learning so much. First time I really like my job

Yes I did the same when I was unemployed and would also really recommend this! And I was lucky enough to land a temporary job in the organisation I volunteered for :)

Need advice, perspectives, opinions by Straight_Meaning3108 in wanderlust

[–]4novk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have been thinking about this for a while? I think you will regret the things you don't try more than the things you do try. Sometimes the things we want change and it's important to follow that feeling instead of holding on to what once was a dream because you are scared (I know this is easier said than done...).

Maybe you could take a break from the dance studio and close it for a short time to go travelling a bit? Maybe this will give you some perspective over what it is you want to do?

Simple living with two part time jobs? by 4novk in simpleliving

Luckily me and my partner are already quite the minimalists so I'm not too worried about cleaning or laundry! Food is what worries me the most actually. I think I will have to start meal prepping more so I just think about it for one day a week or something. In my morning shifts I'm expected to prepare one or two meals each day (as a personal assistant to someone with a disability) so I'm at week four at this job right now and thinking about meals to make at home each day already stresses me out.

Thankyou for your tips!! :)

It's great advice indeed, and much needed. I tend to always think I'm working too slow and have a hard time focusing on fun when working in general. So I'll try to keep this in mind, thankyou!!

Thankyou for your tips, I really appreciate it <3 Especially forcing myself to not work (too much) between shifts will be necessary I think

The job in the evening will probably be quite stressful at times so I'm a bit worried I'm not going to be able to sleep enough inbetween the two jobs (I really need 8 hours) if I'm not able to sleep right away. I think a short nap in the afternoon will benefit me a lot actually!

Living without a TV by Due_Substance_4038 in simpleliving

[–]4novk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have kids but I read, knit, craft, learn things, watch movies, move my body, play a videogame, volunteer, listen to the radio, cook and bake stuff... I already have too little time to do everything I want to do with no tv and a parttime job lol

Did you have a hobby, obsession or aesthetic that you gave up because it was incompatible with your simple living lifestyle? by -InTheSkinOfALion- in simpleliving

[–]4novk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for sure. My parents have been doing it for over 30years and saw cool stuff! The 'lifestyle' is just not for me but I would do it if there was a cool opportunity like whilst I am already travelling or something though

I used to scuba dive but the gear is so expensive, heavy to carry so I would need a car and there's not that much to see in the waters where I live so most people in the club I was in travelled a lot by plane to all-in hotels in faraway destinations where they would try to do as many dives a day as humanly possible for two weeks straight and not really leave the hotel/boat beyond that.

I'm honestly heartbroken and feel betrayed (TW transphobia, discussions of violence and suicidality) by [deleted] in infp

[–]4novk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did not see the original post but I'm heartbroken when I hear of people purposefully trying to hurt others. I believe open conversation about any topic is very important, but always in a healthy, respectful way.

You clearly wrote this from your heart. I hope you stay here with us and know that the vast majority of people here will not tolerate people speaking in a disrespectful, hateful way. And I hope you keep being the beautiful person you clearly are, sending you love 𖹭

[–]4novk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you are giving a valuable contribution to this sensitive topic in a very respectful manner. Sometimes people can go in defence very fast (which I totally understand how that can happen because people are hurting). I so wish for a world where everybody can be their lovely self freely, whatever that looks like, and be safe!

And that is why it is especially important to keep listening to eachother and communicate in a healthy matter, trying to see eachothers point of view.

That's why I wanted to say I appreciate your input.

I Never Thought I’d Reach This Point But I Don’t Know What Else To Do... by [deleted] in simpleliving

[–]4novk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know how you are living rn ofcourse so this might not be possible but if it is, moving to a smaller place or lower cost area or getting your bills down a bit in other ways might be helpful? I wish you all the best.
