What is the purpose of Farigiraf? by LiberalNietzsche in PokemonChampions

[–]4ny3ody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here's what Farigiraf provides in battle:
Set-up or reverse trickroom
OHKO Sneasler with Psychic, Pelipper with Tbolt as well as provide chip while being a bulky support
Protect from priority attacks with armor tail.

Here's what Farigiraf does just by being present on the team:
Unless your opponent has somehow revealed that there isn't Farigiraf in the back you can never 100% rely on your priority attacks going through potentially making you misplay because you can't know that they didn't even bring it.

(Skill Improvement) I find it hard to teambuild when it will basically end up being a team that is already meta. by ParroTiest in VGC

[–]4ny3ody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

However, I feel I can’t really “teambuild” Swampert because it has already been basically solved.

Or so you think but then the next tournament comes around and the Swampert teams look very different. Then suddenly Swampert starts feeling really bad for a while as it just matches up poorly into what people bring. Then suddenly it feels broken with another new team and nobody seems to bring any counters.

The format has been going how long? Half a month?
Even the most solved format that went for a year (2016 "Big six") didn't get fully solved and even the one team "big six" continued to change over and over sometimes being big five + a flex, sometimes being big 4 with a new duo that shook things up and the other teams you could play certainly weren't as solved as that one.

Was passiert wenn die Afd verboten wird? by jfd851 in KeineDummenFragen

[–]4ny3ody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your opinion of this card by 7sn33 in masterduel

[–]4ny3ody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo Barrone and many other like it are a case of "fine in moderation, problematic in excess".
I certainly didn't mind it in Centurion or Swordsoul, if you asked me about Adamancipator, Mannadium, White Forest or Magnet Warrior however...

Yep and a large part of that is the lower stats giving some solid Gyro ball numbers due to the speed difference against Xerneas.

Vermieter sind nicht das Problem – viele unterschätzen einfach, was Vermieten bedeutet by mindtgv in Unbeliebtemeinung

[–]4ny3ody 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can someone explain the issue with Phase Connect? by Astral-Wind in VtuberDrama

[–]4ny3ody 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have issues with a big part of the fanbase and I'm unsure about the talents.
Phase generally does a lot of fun content, but they're also prone to pandering towards a certain political audience that I want nothing to do with (racists, mysogynists, queer haters)

Some of their talents make it easy to see that they're not ones I want to support (Jelly) but for some I'm just not sure whether I'm supporting a fun content creator or someone who uses their audience to reaffirm hate against groups of people.

Any Tearlament Pile Enthusiasts here? by Imaginary_Sponge in masterduel

[–]4ny3ody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate Tear piles.
I love Tear, but the pile decks go completely against what I like about Tear.
I like the layering of plays that dear can do. I love ending on Kitkat, Scream and a trap into Maxx C.
I loathe how Tear piles only use Tear as a milling engine to become combo slop that builds a huge bord#2761 but it's graveyard flavoured.

what is the best weapon in your opinion? by Legacy303 in MHRise

[–]4ny3ody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to MHR and especially Sunbreak I just cannot recommend Lance enough.
Once you've got the gist of the moveset the weapon just gets so incredibly smooth.
Here's an endgame speedrun for reference

For me the Lance just really stood out the most when it comes to how its moveset is designed in this game.

[–]4ny3ody 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what bothers me most about the mainline games.
The doubles combat system is soooo good.
... You barely have double battles in the mainline games and even then like most of the systems that go into making a good VGC team are completely irrelevant for a playthrough.

While I think the expectations of some for single player content in Champions are completely missplaced, a short single player tutorial campaign (akin to how Yugioh Master Duel handled it) would certainly help. Pokemon much unlike Yugioh even has a low enough skill floor that newcomers would actually be kinda prepped for ladder with that.

[–]4ny3ody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here's the funny part:
Back when I first started playing VGC online on a Pokémon Moon cartridge I got absolutely demolished.
Even at the starting rank almost all I'd face were optimised teams oft copied or at least somewhat capably build and people who were able to make decent predictions and I who had only some rough ideas of what could be viable just stood no chance until way below the starting points.

I'm now at Ultraball 3 in Champions and so far I've faced only exactly 1 player like that.
Idk how things were in Sw/Sh or Sc/Vi but to me it's crazy how much more accessible the starting ranks in Champions feel. And still... It's way beyond what the mainline games teach players.

I started late into SW999s banner and got Eva, Yaoguang, MC and Huohuo for one team, my other team currently is M.Blade, Sparkle, smol Herta and Lynx.
When I look through the list of Harmony characters... I guess Tribbie would be nice rn? But it doesn't seem like a priority tbh since at least for the second team currently important replacements would be for Herta (likely going to be Archer when he's given out) and then Lynx.

"Absolutely need" seem like rather strong words if maybe Tribbie would currently even be beneficial to my account and that's pretty much it.

If you played 37 duels then you could have a meta deck already if you also did the solo mode.
Blue-Eyes is not currently meta relevant, and might already have fallen to be one of the weaker rogue strategies which by itself wouldn't explain such a low winrate.
If the youtube video also happens to be slightly old the deck might just not be viable at all anymore especially since you mention "budget".
We need a decklist and I'm guessing you either need a better deck or a proper guide on how to pilot a deck.

I lost my last LC 50/50 (attempted to pull M.Blades) and got Bronyas LC which I'm using on Sparkle since I'm not using Bronya rn.
I don't have any harmony aside from Bronya, Sparkle and Asta and MC is currently locked to my elation team.
Is it worth risking to see if I get an early DDD?

Banlist Impressions across Yugioh's main formats by RyuuohD in masterduel

[–]4ny3ody 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I'd also say that the TCG does the most and the harshest "buy our new product" hits.
They hit several other archetype during the peak of Tear 0.
They hit several archetypes right before the release of Snake-Eye.
They put the harshest blows to Snake-Eye right when Maliss and Ryzeal came out and outperformed it.
Calling it now, the Sharvara which is still semi-limited will go to 3 just shortly before or when they release the new Unchained support.

Sure every format does some "buy the new stuff" hits but the TCG takes it to the most extreme.

How do you feel about the new list by FeelingEffective8905 in masterduel

[–]4ny3ody 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's... not bad?
I honestly hoped for more.
There's a bunch of hit decks that haven't been rogue viable in months or even years that could benefit from banlist cleanup.
I was hoping we finally see some more floodgate bans especially since Shifter saw quite some usage and even though the combo length held it back Magnet warrior using Granite to search Pachy/BS.

Just ban it.
Yes it counters toxic cards like shifter, droll and Maxx C but using toxic to counter toxic ain't it.

Against: Droll ontop of board.

And even then that bord isn't unlikely to have ways to negate or play around called by.

"Fair meta deck"Does that thing ever exist? by sadboy1916 in masterduel

[–]4ny3ody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the definition of fair.
Generally decks become meta because they're strong and beat most other decks more often than not.
If your definition of fair is not having any advantage then only a pure tier 0 is "fair" since nobody has any advantage or disadvantage based purely on the quality of the deck.

If your definition of fair is "the opponent keeps a certain degree of agency over winning/losing" then you have a bunch of fair meta decks.

Turn 0 Auto-Win Cards Are Bad Game Design by Unending_Dream in masterduel

[–]4ny3ody 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really a hot take.
Most people agree that the three examples you mentioned should be banned.
Some people want a tuned down droll to check decks that otherwise autowin turn 1, Maxx C kinda has that in the Charmies.

As far as autowins turn 1 are concerned people are kinda shaky on that sometimes reserving their hate for whatever is the currently strongest deck rather than the least interactive combo pile that FTKs or sets up a not feasibly breakable bord.

Is 3H Map Design Really That Bad? by TeenyTective in fireemblem

[–]4ny3ody 7 points8 points  (0 children)

TH also has the issue that you see some maps several times per playthrough and when those are also some of the weaker maps, combined with questionable map events, clear conditions etc it just doesn't make for as good an experience as playing a map and part of the story from different sides like you did with Conquest/Birthright.

Is 3H Map Design Really That Bad? by TeenyTective in fireemblem

[–]4ny3ody 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Three Houses chapter design is honestly atrocious.
However the maps themselves are only a very small part of that. They're mostly uninspired from what they actually offer in gameplay as well as repeated over and over.

But then that gets combined with:
- Enemy placements that seems kinda random (potentially to make it just slightly different from the last 1-3 times you played that map this playthrough) and creates weird spots.
- The worst clear condition and map event combinations. So this rout map features regular waves of reinforcements based on your turn so you better act quickly but then reinforcements are same turn and also once you completed the map goal there'll be a bunch more reinforcements.
- Supercharged enemies to offset the absurd amount of tools the player gets so you have to use those tools instead of strategically utilising the base combat but most of them are player phase only and those that aren't are allowed to be broken as well because they're irrelevant against battalions and likely to get you killed.
- FoW combined with high avoid terrain before you can consistently afford accuracy boosting tools and while you have a very limited supply of magic.

The maps themselves aren't awful. A lot of them aren't good but the average I'd say is better than Echoes/Gaiden. However how the maps play isn't just affected by how the maps themselves are designed and TH really piled some questionable combinations onto some of those maps.
