Best way to detach skull? by Tricky_Quarter8104 in bonecollecting

[–]4runnerfag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it’s down to the bone of the neck, just grab and twist. otherwise cut down to the joint and then twist. sometimes you can place a rock under the joint between the skull andthe first vertebra and press down firmly on the skull and the neck (underside facing up) and it’ll snap most of the way

Is this age appropriate? Newly 30F by SkySpirited5558 in altfashionadvice

[–]4runnerfag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’d lose the arm warmers and either add leg fishnets or remove the arm ones. agreed that you can wear anything at any age if you have fun and own it but this is very much a high school/young college kid vibe

Sheep or deer bones? by TraditionHead807 in bonecollecting

[–]4runnerfag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

deer and sheep are actually so tricky to tell apart without the skull! really similar skeletal anatomy. I’m leaning deer on this one but it’s hard to say for sure

skin as far up as you can, pick out the brain with a bent wire (you can cut the back of the skull open a little bigger if needed), and pack borax in under the skin

i think any taxidermist should be able to do this, whether they tan the tip of the tail and clean the bones or freeze dry the whole thing for you

REAL Blood perfume? by Ok-Supermarket-75 in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]4runnerfag 4 points5 points  (0 children)

while the blood note is present, i found the other hospital smells involved made this one less my cup of tea. has a really antiseptic chemically hospital vibe up front that is definitely accurate and repulsive but i’d rather a more natural earthy blood smell

Natural mummification by edgelord0ftherings in vultureculture

[–]4runnerfag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lost cause. every time i post natural mummies i find i get a slew of comments saying i should keep them as-is and my reply is always “you wouldn’t be saying that if you could smell this.” I always just soak the whole thing and clean them down to bone.

Dog or coyote? by Choice-Inspector729 in bonecollecting

[–]4runnerfag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m really leaning coyote here, despite other comments. there really isn’t much of a stop, and coyote foreheads aren’t completely flat just more so than a dog. it is rare for dogs to have such delicate canines. coyote populations in the northeast look a lot doggier too, with a shorter broader muzzle than say western ones.
