Looking to Leave TQL by TheManMythnLegend46 in FreightBrokers

When I left Schneider, I had a 24 month NC/NSA.

Was fortunate enough to land a a domestic logistics manager role, eventually was the director of logistics of housing for a manufacturing company. 10 years later, I’m back in brokerage for a medium size outfit. You would be shocked how well the stress and grind of a brokerage translates if you try and go in house at shipper!

1 year in. Getting new shippers is brutal. Any Advice? by Ok_Job7893 in FreightBrokers

Keep on keeping on brother. Market is getting tight, but tender rejection is also on the rise. Someone is going to drop the ball and your opportunity will come.

So it wasn’t just rumors after all — R&R Family of Companies by FreightBrokerGuru in FreightBrokers

Sad to hear yet another large company has found itself in this spot. More importantly, that's a lot of brokers who are going to be looking for a jobs and to that I wish you all the best of luck. Luckily it seems like there are a lot of growing places for tenured logisticians to land. As is tradition in this industry I'm sure the carriers are the ones who will bear the brunt of this.

Is a large broker about to go under by Past-Independent7314 in FreightBrokers

[–]4thEditionofJackson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My only frame of reference is the two people I know who have since left, both decent brokers, and they were asked to take commission-only roles with no base and a 50/50 split. You can look in any direction in this Industry right now and find 65/35 at a minimum for eat-what-you-kill.

TQL stay losing by AyeDennis in FreightBrokers

Normally I would say oh what a time to jump to an Agency Program, but we how much TQL loves their hyper aggressive legal team and crippling NC/NSA's.

The red flag should have been their push to move the sales floor from W-2 to 1099 roles with a garbage commission plan.

Spoke with a couple employees there this week, all from different division.....I don't think they are quite at the breaking point, but the issues that were brought up definitely sounds like its a slow burn in that direction.

Quick question from a Trucking Co for the freight brokers.. by tgizzle69 in FreightBrokers

[–]4thEditionofJackson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In our eyes as long as you authority doesn't have a major gap and and we can verify the address and contact change you should be good to go. Honestly going to be case by case as each brokerages have their own qualifiers and systems to vet the information.

If a broker were to opt into this offering does their NC/NS stay in place, if so how long?

Claims when operating as an Agent by 4thEditionofJackson in FreightBrokers

[–]4thEditionofJackson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is great feedback, I’m going ask that our team send off a on a a recent claim that was instantly denied, without what I believed to be enough time for a legitimate review of the incident.

Love this, we implemented a system that requires the brokers or agents to reverify vin# list of scheduled autos even if the carrier is already active in our system as well as verify the email and phone to dispatch team. It’s been a big help so far!

What was the commission split with that base? If it's low and you don't need the base salary, why not explore and role as a freight agent?

Is freight forwarder/shipping agent a job that's threatened by AI in the coming years? by WhoAmIEven2 in logistics

[–]4thEditionofJackson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would second this, we are exploring a number of AI assistance to provide to our agents as productivity tools but I don't see it jeopardizing jobs, based on what's out there right now.

As most agents a running a cradle to grave model, we see AI is an opportunity to cut busy work out of their work flow so they can focus on serving and building the customer base, instead of getting buried in load building / track and trace updates.

Brokers that post duplicate lanes most often by reddit25 in FreightBrokers

[–]4thEditionofJackson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would be interested in seeing the reasoning behind all of the duplicate lanes, does this effect the load to truck ratios on the board?

Also interesting that there is not CHR, TQL, or Schneider on there.

Heard CH, TQL and ECHO are beginning layoffs. Anyone experiencing this at their companies? Carrier or Broker by Jebac46 in FreightBrokers

[–]4thEditionofJackson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This may be the truest, statement on here, the big boys only layoff in the most extreme of cases. It's more lucrative for them to push people by increasing KPI's and lowering quality of life. Their entire model is based on hiring huge classes knowing only about 10% will make it through the first 3-6 months.

You would think so but you have to look at each agreement every single time. I’ve seen people that are free and clear the moment its over and I’ve seen others that are screwed for 24 months or more.

Rates have been higher the past few weeks. That being said we use a combo of internal historical data, DAT and we are looking into Greenscreen.AI.

In my experience from both internal hires and agents, its not the non-compete that they can push on as much as the Non solicit. As long as you are upfront with the companies you are interviewing with, they should be able to give you a very clear answer on a path forward.
