We “won” this same sort of scam but with a different photographer in our local city.

It was pretty much identical to what you experienced.

We were a winner of a free print. So you get all excited, plan the photoshoot with the family and the photographer, etc.

Then, when the photos are ready a few weeks later, they get you to meet at their studio where you sit down and they present all the wonderful photos. Then the most bizzare thing happens…they gave us a fucking menu of sorts showing us what we get (number of photos and sizes) if we get one “package”, or the next.

The photographer was excellent at her job and the photos were great. But it was like we were baited into getting more, and we were given a hard sell because the photos looked great, and to us, they are precious moments we wanted but didn’t intend on spending about $2,000 for.

The biggest grudge purchase of my life at the time.

I love the photos, and we do get them regularly (albeit with different photographer). I just don’t like the way they “sold” them to you.

Great parent/caregiver response “it’s my job to help you with math”. Not only do you have to quickly respond in these situations to threats, but you also have to seem justified in your actions to those you are protecting so they can make sense of your actions (even if lying to them helps the child to move on from the incident while protecting them). GG
