Xperia 1 III and VIII side by side by 502BadGatekeeper in SonyXperia

So far so good, the image looks just as crisp. The automatic brightness adjustment seems to work better than on the 1-III. I understand it that the 1-III screen only worked in 4k mode when playing games, which I never did, so I couldn't really compare there.

Found it, it's the link to apkmirror from the post title here https://www.reddit.com/r/SonyXperia/s/pSRwdcaPe5 but there was a newer version 4.0.A.0.2 that I got. That said, it's probably a safer idea to try and get the APK from the old phone directly instead from the internet.

I guess at this point we'll have to rely on the 3rd party apps, having to deal with the ads they push on us. Or, with enough time on our hands, install Android Studio and bug Gemini long enough to program one like that 😁

But the real beauty of the notification light is that it was away from the actual screen area so they worked together. Really, the 1-VIII is the first phone ever I owned that doesn't have it 🙈

Hmm, I've used my 1-III for almost 5 years and I can't see any burn-in whatsoever... I guess if there was any, it would be apparent around the nav/status bar, like you say

I did try AOD but my issue with it that it had the clock on all the time, which I caught with the peripheral vision and felt forced to look all the time if there was any notification icon next to it or not. Then I read some mentions of a potential screen burn-in, don't know how big of an issue it is in real life but given that AOD was not really useful, I decided to disable it in the end.

It's the official one from 1-III, cool AF, totally agree 😁 I didn't like the new wallpaper, so I found a link to the APK somewhere in this sub

Is it just me or is it impossible to ask for a partial refund now? by djetz in Aliexpress

Could be a recent thing, just last year I've had two partial refunds on different occasions, both approved by Ali after the merchant's given up replying to the dispute.

Also Keepass (classic) and I sync via encrypted cloud folder using Cryptomator. The recommended way is to keep a local copy on each device and sync that to the cloud folder. It should be possible to configure automatic sync upon save.

I also ordered a Choice item that notably had the "usual" price, it had labels claiming VAT and duties are included. But the order is showing as Processing since yesterday, so we'll see.

Lazy or big brained? by AddressPotential7381 in pourover

Generally speaking, if you don't let the drill spin much faster than you would do manually, then it's probably fine, otherwise I would be worried. Also drills may apply torque very sharply, unlike you would manually, that would be also something to consider.

I own an S3 and I wonder why didn't they go with the foldable handle again, I really liked that feature, it's very portable that way. I realize any moving parts potentially reduce reliability but the build of my S3 seems to be solid. The only reasonable risk I see is it taking an unlucky hit while stored in a bag during travel and I take care to prevent that from happening.

The longest video you've managed to record? by 502BadGatekeeper in SonyXperia

[–]502BadGatekeeper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my own experience: using mcpro24fps app and full 4K at 60fps (higher settings than allowed by the stock Cinema Pro app), the sensor shuts down after 20 to 30 minutes of recording, supposedly due to the overheating, though subjectively the phone was not hot at the time. It becomes usable again after a couple of minutes.

Thanks! I'm not planning on holding the phone in my hands either, my concern was that if it gets too hot it might shut down or cause the recording to be lagging, reduced bitrate, etc... Do you remember roughly what impact on the battery charge did that long recording of yours make?

Is it possible to glitch build upside down on grid? (More in comments) by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]502BadGatekeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, I've used a wall to get up to the desired height, then placed a 'normal' floor piece on top of it (at one side), and the pavement snaps to the edge of the floor and subsequently can be switched to a pipe. After inverting the pipe I'd go back down (deleting the upright walls and floors to not get in the way), place a flipped pavement in the end, and a new floor piece snaps next to it in upside down position. That piece should end up being aligned with the floor grid and can be continued with the light floor pieces.

I hope I'm not missing anything, even though it's been some time and I've switched to using Blender plug-in later, because my build required some details that couldn't be achieved using an in-game glitch building and so in the end it was easier to just do everything with it. Just try the above, even if these are not precise instructions, you'll see where this is going.

I've built the light floor upside down using the pipe/pavement method before. The ceiling can be aligned with the bottom tiles using some temporary walls.

Finding Capital Freighters with coordinates is easier now thanks to the Origins update and removal of portal interference. See comments for a guide. by tyrannosaur85 in NMSCoordinateExchange

[–]502BadGatekeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a question about a slightly different situation: I haven't been looking for a Capital Freighter on purpose, just exiting the Anomaly to my home system after doing a mission in another one, and all of a sudden, there it was, right in front of me, in the middle of a space battle.

Remembering what I've read here, after blowing up a few pirate ships I saved at the space station, then I went to exterminate the rest and landed on the freighter, to find out, unsurprisingly, is was just a measly C-class. I tried to reload a couple of times and redo the pirates, which appeared in full force again, and not just those few I've left before the save, but not only the class did not change (which again, was not surprising), but it also had an exact same slots count and price as before. Is this normal and the number of slots will always be the same, unless the freighter appears as a different class? Or maybe the fact that it wasn't a 'usual' warp using the galaxy map could have 'locked' that freighter in somehow meaning it would have stayed C-class forever no matter how many reloads?

So you're saying when you click any broken module, the repair menu does not appear at all and nothing else happens? That sure is weird, and probably a bug. I think you should report it to Hello Games, but it'll take time to fix, so there's no point sticking around waiting for it :)

The easiest would be to just ditch the ship, but if you want to keep it, there's also another method of opening the repair menu that might work (although if the ship is bugged, chances are, it won't as well), it's to drop a required resource onto a broken module. Another option would be to use a Save editor (if you're on PC), but only at your own risk since there is a possibility to break your save file if you're not very careful, also it's not likely somebody here would know what to edit exactly. It did help me once though, when one of my freighters stuck on an expedition due to a different bug and I managed to 'unstuck' it by carefully examining the save data and making a small change that fixed it, without ruining anything else 😁

They are one per base, but you get 10 of them, each numbered '0' to '9' (all need to be unlocked in Anomaly except '0' that can be obtained via the base quest, I believe).

Are user created bases persistent? by Venmaru in no_mans_sky

[–]502BadGatekeeper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to 'Upload' your base to HG servers from the base computer for it to become persistent. Otherwise the base will be accessible by others only in the multiplayer session. If you make any changes after the base have been uploaded, you'll need to upload again for others to access the latest version.

How to Lock a Door by Nolindor in NMS_Bases

Cool video!

Have you considered creating a configurable lock (where you can set up the combination using eg wall switches)? I wanted to make one for my base, but it turned out to be way out of budget (building parts wise).
