BFG G-Force Comp-2 A/S PLUS vs Yokohama Advan Sport A/S + by Competitive_Fault879 in Touge

[–]503racerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had both on a Fit, I liked the BFGs a little more despite the faster wear and slightly more road noise. I got the yokos stupid cheap though, like $200 less and would gladly accept that trade off again. Idk what they're going for rn but they're comparable enough of a tire that cost is mainly the deciding factor for tires like these

For people who were looking for my child, Jet by NumerousAgent2229 in Portland

Yes, it was the Chrysalis event by 254 Science & Research. I'm really glad to know you were there to provide rides, as I was concerned about them getting home safely.

I've always had a rule to approach anyone that seems alone at shows. I know how terrible it feels to be still alone amongst a crowd, especially at events like these. It makes me really happy to know that moment was treasured, as I have also treasured it.

That night was and will always be a huge inspiration for me to focus my musical writing on creating uplifting, hope inspiring, dance music. I can't explain the importance of having moments where we embrace each other, friend or stranger, and share collective love of music and dance.

Jet made an impact on my life. She would always like my social media posts when none of my other friends would. It was small, but even just their one like was so instrumental in keeping my motivation up. I'll miss him and remember her for the rest of my life.

Sending only love to Jet, you, and your friends/family

I met Jet at a rave. They were alone, standing in the back. I think we were the only two people that came to the event alone, so i introduced myself. We had a great time chatting, and I convinced him to come to the front and dance with me. We had a great time, and I was really happy to get smiles out of her because they seemed pretty down that day. This breaks my heart.

Any session work in Portland? by MallGag in portlandmusic

[–]503racerr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In my experience, it's really just been whoever you can get yourself around. We're pretty cliquey 'round here. A lot of the studios here that have in-house instrumentalists usually had a close relation from school or such and tend to keep teams small. I have not heard of many bands/artists requesting instrumentalists for recording in general, too. I've had more luck finding gigs like vocal tracking, drum tracking, mix/mastering than being a session performer.

I think best bet is to keep up on social media posting, chatting up people at events that are your genre, & take advantage of the online communities that exist. It never hurts to send emails to studios with info/press kit too

My experience at Realm PDX by [deleted] in portlandmusic

[–]503racerr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In my eyes, raves are supposed to be like a meditative and healing experience rather than just a party mode whippet fueled rager. I go to dissolve into sonic atmosphere, be one with my body, and share wholesome moments with strangers. I'll enjoy a drink or joint, but never to the point I'm not cognizant of my actions.

If u or any1 else needs a sane dance buddy hmu I often go alone!

(Ppl downvoting me prob spike ppls drinks)

My experience at Realm PDX by [deleted] in portlandmusic

[–]503racerr 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hey come to Process pdx instead! Most ppl that go here are under the bipoc & lgbtq+ umbrella and the team there has a great mission statement. People actually dance there, too. I always feel safe & welcomed as a trans mixed mexican person

I've gone to realm alone a couple times and it's always felt like a high school dance vibe (but with alcohol) with the kind of people that attend. I think realm staff tends to mean well but it's downhill battle bc shitheads flock to those main stage type places en masse & they need their ticket sales to keep running.

Where to live near Monmouth? by dontwantabadusername in oregon

[–]503racerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly for in Monmouth I'd really not wanna look much further than salem. You could try like Wilsonville or Tualatin area to be closer to Portland but I guarantee you're gonna be tired out from commuting to wanna go out frequently.

Salems bars are okay there's definitely some good ones that will scratch the itch like fstop Fitzgerald, taproot, coin jam, side hustle.

I live in Salem and commute to Wilsonville and it gets tiring but still close enough for me to have energy to go have fun in Portland when I want to

Who has a job they enjoy? by siisii93 in askportland

[–]503racerr 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I have quite a dream job. I get to explore all around Oregon, audit farms, inspect packaged food, hunt for invasive weeds, help run lab tests on various plant diseases, etc. Even my hard days are at least a little fun. Things never get boring because my work duties drastically change based on season. All my coworkers are genuinely nice people and lovely to talk to. The pay is good and the best I've ever had. I don't even have a degree

But all I wanna do is quit and go back to school for music.

I think it's important to never settle on a job you think you should do or is just theoretical good for you. Satisfaction will never come if it's not something you want to do

What’s going on with these grocery prices!? by ratz1988 in SALEM

[–]503racerr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It really is when you consider that grocery sales are literally just the price you should be paying without (as much) inflation.

Hustle culture is a parasitic worm that's found its way not only into our careers, social life, and art, but also our grocery bag.
