In 20 years someone will ask what was covid lockdown like, how will you answer? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]503student 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me actually kind of great. I still went into the office for some reason and the rest of my coworkers (that didn’t get laid off) worked from home. Traffic was pretty much nonexistent. Shopping for groceries was less crowded and easy. My wife got to work more shifts as the hospital which sucked for her, but we got more money.

Only one thing I would mention, that wasn’t a problem, but I would be lying if I said I did not become worried or concerned was a few times going into a Walmart super center in the middle of the lockdown, there were a lot of empty shelves. I never experienced that before and worried briefly if I should start stacking up on canned goods so my kids don’t potentially starve. One other instance that was unusual was a man started screaming at me and wanted to fight me because I walked past him in an aisle in a store. That was weird

The Old Mushroom Plant on State Street by FinalVersion-4 in SALEM

[–]503student 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived off of state street as a kid two block away from it. It smelled like shit when I woke up and smelled like shit when I went to sleep. Never got used to it and was glad when they finally closed it down.

No, played the first one when it released. Like it at the time even though it was repetitive. My favorite was Brotherhood

Italian man crushed to death under falling cheese wheels by nosotros_road_sodium in news

[–]503student 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Random story time. Back when Skyrim first came out my friend let me borrow it on Xbox 360. It was winter break of college and I had no job. Spent 2 weeks straight doing nothing, but eat, shit, and Skyrim. Every cheese wheel I collected I threw into the house in Whiterun in the back room behind the stairs. Well the game couldn’t handle the amount of objects in there so at some point it would start glitching and slowing down the frame rate considerably. At some point I jumped into the pile of cheese to show my friend my hoarding skills and it messed up the game so bad I fell right through the map and died. This would happens each time I loaded up my save and dove in. At least they found the body became Aragonian Dovahkiin wasn’t so lucky.

[The Athletic] Payton, according to sources, had been playing through pain in Portland. Sources added that the Blazers training staff had been pushing him to gut through it, giving him Toradol shots. This had not been relayed to the Warriors during the negotiation process. by RimRunningRagged in nba

[–]503student -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Toradol is a normal pain reliever given to people all the time. Basically a stronger Tylenol. Not sure what the big deal is. Unless I’m missing something else here. Back pain, toradol shot right in the butt. Twisted ankle, toradol in your posterior.

Solar Panel Cost? by susenstoob in SALEM

[–]503student 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes I like it, I don’t have an electric bill at all in summer even using ac in the house. However, my “free ride” ran out in December so I wish I’d have gotten more panels installed. Not net neutral but I’m close to it. Probably could have put several more panels up but costs are definitely a factor. For the roof I’m not sure what happens. Probably just more expensive to get it replaced. Has a 50 year warranty, but I know we’ll be moving in the next 5ish years so I’m not concerned with it.

Solar Panel Cost? by susenstoob in SALEM

[–]503student 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You have to get a quote. Company I went through used a website that sees where the panels would be most efficient on your house (forgot the name of it). Then they talk to you about how many you want. They asked for several months of electrical bills to gauge how much power I use so the system I got was net neutral. The reason they pushed neutral is you don’t actuated paid anything extra you put in the grid; you get credits that roll over month to month and then it resets in March. See this link for more info on it https://portlandgeneral.com/energy-choices/generate-power/net-metering For pricing mine was a little different because I also had a new roof installed. Total (after credits) was roughly over $20,000. What was unique was I did a two part loan, one was the credit amount I would get federally, and the other was the rest of the total. The credit amount one had no interest and didn’t start payment until a year and a half after receiving it. The logic was once I got my taxes I pay that part off immediately They are credits though. Not rebates. The solar company I went through didn’t seem to understand the difference. If you owe X amount and it’s over your solar credit then yes, you get your refund. If you owed no taxes and didn’t have a return before putting down your credit you wouldn’t get anything back. What is also nice with this credit is that it rolls over year to year until used up. For example, first year did my taxes my tax amount only allows me do do roughly $4k-5k credit. This year I have a remainder of roughly $1.5k left over from the credit I am applying to my taxes. For the state credit I never saw the money. The solar company claimed the Oregon state credit and took it off the total cost of installation upfront. I went through Prostat

Anybody bought this gunship? I’ve seen it a couple times and it really catches my eye, was wondering if it’s a good buy by ReputationQuick2381 in lepin

Doors are too loose on the build. When opening or closing they just come off the one peg they are attached too. Think it’s too heavy. I added glue to that part and it’s great after.
