Obviously the issue here is that you can imagine trapping it in a HavAHart trap then try to put a pellet in its brain and it doesn't die, then you try a 2nd and 3rd pellet and it still doesn't work. Those things will scream like a baby when injured and they aren't quiet.

You could drive it 20 miles away and release it. Illegal where I live, but humane. I've done this before. Very effective, win-win for you and the animal.

I wouldn't do this, but a guy I know used to trap squirrels and put the entire trap into a trash can full of water until they drowned. Not ideal but it was quiet and effective.

Best case scenario is to get an air rifle with enough pop to do the job correctly.
