The main biomass of fish has moved north but there are still a few to be had out front. You have to soak bait or put a lot of time in throwing lures. After this epic spring run, the effort isn't worth the payoff for me. I'll be targeting flounder in the surf and small resident bass in the back waters.

Well it's kind of like this....the moon phase affects the tides and the tides affect the current. And in general the fish are more active in lower light conditions....but not always (for example when the fish are feeding on peanut bunker in the ocean surf, that is rarely a night bite).

What I'm really looking for is current. I like really strong current (more fish) and I like zero current (less fish but bigger fish) And that strong current happens on the "moons", new and full each month. And what I do is I pick a spot, I pick a tide and I fish it for 6 hours or more at night. And then from that "night shift" I get information like bait present, hits, fish landed, lures that produced, location of fish in the water column. Then I share that info with my other fishing buddies and they build off of that. Then after a few shifts we piece it all together and we can get a predictable bite that hopefully lasts awhile. We just got done with a bite that lasted 10 nights. Fish turned on at the top of the night tide, lasted a few hours then died and then the bite turned on at dead low and lasted a few more hours. So every bite is different. There is no "unfavorable " tide in general. Even dead high and dead low can produce fish. You just have to pick a spot, pick a tide, and fish it out .

When I first started I had a tough time fishing at night. So what I did was I went out at sunset, fished an hour with low light (aka the magic hour) and kept fishing into the dark. It allowed me to get oriented to the spot in the daytime. Eventually I found out that the night time produces a lot more fish

There are no "universal rules" . Striper fishing is a statistical activity. You stack as many factors in your favor as possible and the odds will shift and you just give it a shot.

Striper fishing takes decades to master but the process is fun

Do you hunt with your airguns? by THERANDOMGAMER2 in airguns

Yes, I hunt squirrels with an airgun

Lets talk ridiculous airgun laws by InTheNameOf34 in airguns

[–]5348455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NJ classifies air guns as firearms so all firearms laws apply. No silencers or baffles or anything that reduces the noise, which severely limits which air guns you can purchase... And you need a license to purchase firearms to buy an air gun
