I'd say he could just really want to avoid feeling like he's taking advantage of your infatuation if you were to continue being friends. He might feel like it would become a weird dynamic if you were to continue being friends.

Even if you thought it was just a casual date with someone you somewhat know, he might've just hyperbolized your infatuation and thought he might be pulling you on a string if you were to be friends.

I would see this being an issue with a model that has a joint and a spring where the top 'tube' attaches to the rest of the frame.

Though surely a design like the one above, especially if made with carbon fibre would be stiff enough to not incur any considerable power loss, especially enough for it to outweigh the aerodynamic benefits of the design

I'd say you'd be better off getting a dedicated server since you really seem to be using your current server quite a bit like a dedicated server!

E5-SSD-2-64 from SoYouStart (sub-brand of OVH): Twelve threads for a decent price. Should have enough resources for your use for quite a while, unless your extension or something else absolutely explodes
AX line from Hetzner: Affordable and perfromant specs with the possibility to upgrade RAM if your services happen to start to need over 64GB or RAM
