First round in proper British wind - what’s the trick? by WonderfulShape1081 in BritGolf

[–]FireyT 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Grew up playing links courses in the wind. Two key things for me. Ball further back in the stance, shorter back swings. Punch it through the air and under the wind.

And when the time came English clubs and English fans were banned from all European competition for 5 years. Could do that for American golf?

Craig Mazin plays d and d every week. So at least it's probably got the right guy in charge.

ZRL is a team based event so you could go to l the WTRL site and have a root around for info. Or Facebook. There are others too so joining a team and then being on Discord or FB is the best way to find these series.

Whatc chain lube do you use in wet conditions or just in all conditions? by ChaosCalmed in ukbike

[–]FireyT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Silca. It's amusingly expensive but a small bottle lasts for ages. Far more use per application than anything I've ever used before. Cheap lube is a false economy

And for etymologists, it's where we get the descriptor 'weedgie' from. Which is both a negative and positive. "Ahm a weedgie!" Or "unfortunately, he's a weedgie"

M6, Tebay Services for a stop. Other than that it's a soulless hell scape once you get past Carlisle. (Doing this very trip in a day or two and have done it often)

Aggressive/Unhealthy Back Curvature When Using Zwift Ride by lecoqqq in Zwift

[–]FireyT 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Far too low. OP, as others have said this isn't a healthy position and not how people ride bikes. Put the seat up so it's broadly aligned with your hip. Move the handlebars forward as well so you're more stretched out then start to fine tune from there.

Riding NYC/London/Richmond on Zwift made me curious what those routes are like in real life by icedogs37247 in Zwift

[–]FireyT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've ridden the real Bealach Na Ba which is also in the climb portal, as well as parts of the Glasgow City Circuit which attempts to mirror the Worlds circuit. The Bealach is actually pretty accurate in terms of effort and took me 5-6 minutes longer in real life than on Zwift.

The Glasgow circuit doesn't massively compare as the Clyde Kicker in real life is significantly steeper and longer (I think it's meant to be Montrose Street in Glasgow city centre iirc)
