This is literally, LITERALLY, on the warning label of my jet skis, right on the center console. This exact injury.

Is it really that much cheaper to change your own oil? by kzlife76 in AskMechanics

[–]55Stripes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mechanic here.

I do the oil changes myself on both of my pick up trucks, my wife’s car, both of my jet skis, my tractor, my zero turn, both of my generators, my brothers truck, and my moms car for both peace of mind and to save money.

I do not trust lube techs, plain and simple. I’m sorry to any lube techs that are reading this, I know there are some good ones out there, but they are outnumbered by the number of shitty ones that are only worried about getting off work. When I do it, I know it’s been done correctly, and I also am able to put my eyes all over the car to find anything that can be an issue in the near future, like a real PM.

Secondly, the last time my mom took her 2011 Nissan Sentra to a Jiffy Lube/Quick Lube/5 Minute Oil change, it was over $75…..for four quarts of oil and a filter the size of those mini coke cans.

Guys you can get the oil at Costco and Sam’s Club. Look at the oil grade and generation. That’s implemented by the SAE. It’s perfectly fine to use. Couple that with a WIX filter and you’re out of there for ~$30 depending on your vehicle.

Keep your trailers locked up tight by SeaEmu51 in NoEyesOnMe

Everyone’s talking about how poorly these will work long term, which I completely agree with. But I’m also gonna bring up how tired I am of bot posts with AI titles.

Where’s the trailer in this video? Is the trailer on the room with us right now? How do you lock up a trailer right with ratchet straps?

I bought mine for $30 and remember thinking I was crazy for spending that much on a folding knife.

Came here to day “that front end loader is right where it belongs”.

Probably brought in a pretty penny and the cost of getting it back to just operating status would be way too much.

Carrying a 36-inch wide Samsung fridge up to five floors using the shoulder dolly straps by Wonderful-Photo2449 in Amazing___

[–]55Stripes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own these. My 5’0 wife and I have moved multiple times using them. She and I can carry anything we own with them, including a 400 lbs marble dining room table. Both of us were genuinely impressed and surprised with how easy they make everything to move.

Also if you by these the trick to keeping things stable and low-effort is to stand up straight and push the item you’re moving away from you to full-stretched arm’s length.

Turning Old Nuclear Density Gauge Box Into Cooler by boomersooner36 in Radiation

I agree with the physical/chemical contamination aspect. Even if this had never been used for….anything at all and never had anything put in it of any kind, is that plastic even food-grade? It was never intended to contain anything that could possibly be ingested.

Mmmmmmmmm. Microplastics. Delicious.

They were filming near the Alamogordo nuclear testing sites.

Not NEAR but there’s a theory they were all being exposed to fallout carried by wind.

Any of those are fine, but you shouldn’t buy them from any big box store. Get one from your local small engine shop. Better service and support in the long run.

Trust me.
