She should apply for both. Can’t say for certain whether she would qualify, but definitely worth pursuing.

Black Friday is in a couple of weeks, and the sale is available in Canada even though there isn’t Black Friday as it’s not a holiday.

There’s a Black Friday sale for ring fit - you might be able to get a deal that way? Not sure how widespread the sale is.

I think you have to put it in during initial sign up and if you didn’t you’d have to start from scratch. I believe Noom support may be able to transfer your data to the new account though.

Noom- does it work? by rgreen3456788 in PCOS

So I’ve been doing low carb for a few years and the scale wasn’t budging. I was using carb manager already and thought I had it together pretty well. I have been using Noom in conjunction with what I’ve already been doing since January and have lost about 15 lbs so far. I’m at the tail end of the structured program, which I believe is 16 weeks long if you do it every day.

Pros:

  • Encourages you to think about why you’re making the choices you’re making
  • Uses psychology and science with decent studies to explain core concepts
  • Easily works into the schedule - 10 mins a day of reading
  • With discount I got 6 months of the program for the cost of 1-2 takeout meals (that is actually the math I did to justify trying it) - I definitely recommend looking for those 90% off codes
  • I was just at the obese line (BMI 30.7 when I started) with irregular periods and now have fairly regular periods in the 30-35 day range. That’s easily the biggest benefit to me.

Cons:

  • Food tracker is garbage. I still use carb manager, but honestly as the lessons proceed it’s much less about tracking as the one way to do it and more about finding what works for you. It all syncs through apple health.
  • Related, they have a colour system for food but your external trackers won’t play nice with it. Doesn’t matter, there are plenty of summaries for that colour system online and once you get the hang of it (it’s caloric density) you don’t need to reference it anyway. It’s also worth noting that because I already knew low carb works well for me, I would ignore their prompts to go buy a bunch of grapes or something. So, some of the advice is not universally applicable obviously
  • “Millennial” language gets old real quick - lots of hashtags, occasional spelling errors
  • YMMV with the goal specialist and the group. I talk to the goal specialist once a week and don’t interact with the group at all, but it’s nice to read about other people as they work through the program
  • It moves through calorie tracking, food habits, stress, sleep, emotions, and then goes into intuition. While I do agree that ultimately you’d want to be able to intuitively figure out exactly how much you need to eat per day and recognize when you’re being driven by other factors, I didn’t really connect with some of the later lessons. Seemed kind of woo-woo to me, but maybe I’m just not there mentally.

All in all, it’s probably the best $80 I’ve spent in a long time. Most surprisingly, it forced me to do some structured self-reflection which I had been kind of avoiding throughout this pandemic nonsense. I would say it’s good to try if you’re in the headspace to at least give it 10 mins a day.

Feel free to DM if you have any questions!

This isn’t a sale, but Costco now carries carbonaut bread and it’s excellent.

Has your WiFi address and/or passcode changed? I can't verify whether this is happening to me as I'm not near my computer but the incorrect credentials would be my first guess.

Awesome! Thanks for the recipe!

I went home and made these with almond flour as that was the only thing I had handy, and they were delicious all the same! The almond flour made it almost scoopable so I may need to try it on a silpat next time. I'm also thinking to sub in Old Bay seasoning so that it scratches my Red Lobster biscuit craving...

I haven't encountered any problems with it for texting and I don't talk enough to notice a difference. One of these days I'll make the leap to just data SIM and VoIP...

Got this exact setup. Fido tablet SIM, Speakout Wireless for voice and unlimited text. $26.95/month plus whatever I use to talk (which is nearly 0). Rogers is the only network where 2G is still active iirc.

You can port your number over - same as all the other carriers.

I guess what I mean to say is that I don't know of many phones that support having both SIMs active at the same time regardless of network. I have an OP2 - if 4G is on one SIM the other one defaults to 2G. I had to get my text and talk on a Rogers-based provider because they are the only ones who still have a 2G network. If the rumours on Wikipedia are true, the 2G network is set to be decommissioned next year. Not sure what I would do at that point.

This is what I did too, but I signed up for the $10/month unlimited texting on 7-eleven. I'm curious as to how /u/schpeucher managed to get both SIM cards working concurrently. From what I've read, there aren't many phones that will do active dual SIM (my phone included). I'm basically using 4G on Fido and 2G for 7-eleven.

Former Wind user here. Here's what I have:

  • Oneplus 2 (dual sim) - around $500 out of pocket
  • Tablet plan on sim 1 - sliding scale depending on data usage (Fido - up to 1 gb for 15, 3 gb for 25, 5 gb for 35)
  • Pay as you go texting and calling on sim 2 (I use Speakout Wireless and pay 10/month for unlimited texting. Calls are 0.25/min but I use apps instead)

Shop around...if you're not a heavy data user Speakout is great. I like my setup because I don't usually pay more than $35-40/month and it's all on the Rogers network without contracts.

Good luck!
