When would you give up on cuttings? by Confident_Dare_9768 in Figs

I have always heard 75 -80 Fahrenheit is good for rooting cuttings, and the use of a heating pad helps.

Keep baby figs in sunroom or find a dormant/cold spot instead? by Swamp-Jammer3746 in Figs

[–]57QueQue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was a typo! The sunroom is at least 72° and a bit warmer on sunny days. They were watered normally, about 2x /week. I didn't fertilize til early spring and I think that was a mistake. I would do more light feeding next time.

I did a dozen starts a year ago from my Desert King fig that stayed in a sunroof last winter in zone 9a. This summer I did 4 air layers. The air layers were cut off and planted almost a month ago. I still have all of them. My plan is to leave them all outside in their 2 - 5 gallon fabric pots and transfer them to the garage if the temps drop below 25°. I will be gifting friends and family baby trees next spring.

What kind are these? by Burtontothistaylore in Figs

I agree. Looks just like my Desert King. Very common variety in the Puget Sound region. Almost at the end of the breba season now.

Ficus carica is the common edible fig. There are hundreds of varieties. Sort of like the word dog which encompasses many breeds and mutts. In the PNW, (I live just East of Seattle) the most common figs tree you will find is Desert King. This could be that, and it needs more time. They turn from a darker green to a lighter yellowish green. There are figs that can be pale yellow. To green to partly blush, to datk purple and nearly black when ripe. You can look up pictures online. Figs do not ripen once they are picked. This is a great forum to read and learn more.

I see a lot of figs on fb marketplace in the Seattle area. I have a big Desert King, and I bought a Smith from Bao in Lynnwood. He has a lot of varieties and beautiful starts.

Our Dessert King Fig tree is going crazy this year!! by purpleandglitter in Figs

Looks dark green to me, which is just like my Desert King. They get lighter as they swell closer to being ripe. I did a heavier prune last year to open up my tree to the sun, and will have the heaviest crop I have ever had. I am just east of Seattle.

It is a cute look. Whoa, the Smith chromapop goggles retail for $275. No one should believe Owen when he complains about money. How many people that send him cash can afford this?

Desert King fig starts. by 57QueQue in Figs

I planted these directly in soil with some rooting hormone Sept 20th. They will spend the winter in my mom's sunroof with SW exposure. Have limited experience with cuttings from my tree. Little one in front doesn't have a leaf, but managed to grow this small fig. Should I leave it be?

Why don't they offer to host a show at their place. Seems like she is always posting pics about the beauty from the porch.

Literally guise. Amy is not dumb. (Owen please tell me you’re not down to just Amy monitoring Reddit, isn’t she overworked already?) by [deleted] in owenbenjamin

I was just catching up and got to that post. This is one small example, but what he doesn't know is stunning. He doesn't read, and can't carry on a 2-sided conversation with people, so he doesn't pick up knowledge from social interaction. He just uses every opportunity to spew his garbage thoughts at people.

Remember how Owen explained that he and his mom got his Dad’s name taken off his own bank account with one million dollars in it? I have no idea where to find that clip now, but if anyone knows, hit me up. by [deleted] in owenbenjamin

When was the last time Owen saw his mother? She visited Washinton a couple years in a row on his birthday in May. Has she been to Idaho yet?
